Really pleased with the service and the gluten free menu. Very pleased with the care and attention given to us and the great choices for gluten free. Thanks for your help. My son has been in hospital twice in the last year so it is important he does not have gluten. Would definitely recommend to anyone who has Coeliac Disease and requires a gluten free menu.
A fantastic vegan menu with plenty of options. Actually one of the best I have seen. Food and service is to a very high standard. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. I will definitely be returning as soon as possible to try more options from the vegan menu. I would highly recommend giving this wonderful place a try. You will not be disappointed.
We were here this evening for a joint birthday dinner. Only our second time at MacFarlane, won’t be our last. Definitely our new favourite spot in Ayr! Food was lovely, staff (and owner!) were chatty and welcoming, and the atmosphere was relaxing. We’ll be back to try out the new breakfast menu!
We came for a weekend. Stumbled across this little gem. It was Saturday night we did not have a booking. They managed to get us a table. The customer service was amazing. Really friendly and welcoming. We had the specials for starter goats cheese dish and a beetroot dish both amazing. Then we had steak with blue cheese sauce. The portions were massive and it was the best steak iv had in a long time. Was so good. Will Definitely be driving back down from Glasgow just for dinner.
We had a wonderful meal and lovely time tonight. The owner was a pleasure to talk to as was Dom. We had breakfast there and went back tonight for an amazing meal. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
What a fantastic place to eat! I visited with my mum & sister for lunch and it was lovely! Everything from start to finish was fresh, tasty and well presented. Staff were very happy, friendly and attentive. We all had 3 courses for £13.95 portions were good sized and we were certainly stuffed afterwards. Great atmosphere, great food, great staff! Will certainly be returning & recommendation everyone to try �
Our third visit. Food is freshly prepared and very very tasty. I had the catch of the day which was fresh salmon with beetroot and caper mash and vegs which did not disappoint.. my husband is a meat eater and had the lamb chops which he recommends to all. Everything is so full of flavour, seasoned perfectly and well presented. For dessert my husband took the crepes filled with fresh strawberries and chantilly cream which again he rated as delicious.
The owner/staff are all very friendly and helpful and provide excellent customer service. It is becoming one of our favourite places and we will definitely be back as well as recommending to all our family and friends.

Absolutely fantastic food and first-class service. Portions are great (especially the garlic mushrooms!) and every dish is cooked to perfection. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Visited here for the first time today for lunch and can definitely say I'll be back. The market menu was excellent quality and absolutely delicious. Very courteous and friendly service. Well worth a try.
Our second visit. Food is freshly prepared and very tasty. I had the beetroot starter (Roasted beetroot with mixed leaves in a balsamic glaze). I'm a meat eater but this was so flavoursome. My main was peppers stuffed with Chicken and chorizo. Once again full of flavour. I took the apple crumble which was superb.
The owner/chef was in the restaurant and was very pleasant. He gave me a complimentary Polish vodka which was great. A family owned and run restaurant which is working hard to build a reputation. I would recommend a visit. It is becoming one of my favourite places and is on a par with my other favourite, Saffys.

This is the most amazing place and the food is magnificent and unique at the same time. Smallish restaurant and you do have to book it has become very popular very quickly. If in Ayr a must visit. My first dish mint and basil grilled peach salad, followed by Barbados marinaded lamb cutlets, mint yogurt and garlic vegetable rice. Have to say the cutlets melted in the mouth. Superb and totally delicious and the staff wonderful.
This is a restaurant for diners who want something out of the ordinary. The menu is small but it is still difficult to choose because of the composition of the dishes. The quality of the food is excellent. My wife and I selected two dishes each which would not normally go together and shared them. It worked here.
The staff are pleasantly attentive but not intrusive. The atmosphere is just right, a quiet buzz.

Had a quick stop in Ayr before heading the the boat. We stumbled across this place completely by accident and we weren’t disappointed. Luckily, because we were early, they were able to squeeze us in before a fully booked evening. The service was brilliant - friendly and efficient. The food was outstanding; the cauliflower and halibut were especially good and we were impressed with the portion size for small plates. We would have taken a photo but we ate it too quickly. 🐷
When we’re back in Ayr, we’ll definitely be coming again. ⭐️

Went for a birthday dinner last week, easily one of the nicest meals out I've ever had.
The dishes are described as 'tapas' but one plate is easily enough for two people to share. I went with a party of 3 and we got around 8 plates between us - other people may need less, but we are a greedy bunch. Either way, sharing so many plates at once is a really fun way to eat out.
Everything is ridiculously good quality for the money - for example, the cocktails were only £5.95 each, which is a steal for how well made they are. I tried a hazelnut White Russian for the first time, which was delicious. Definitely something I'll try (and probably fail) to emulate at home.
Our food highlights were the carbonara (made without cream, the real deal!), the scallops and the lamb, but everything else was great too. Even the side dish of hand cut chips - probably one of the most basic items on the menu - went above and beyond our expectations.
Staff all very friendly and welcoming too.
I can't wait to come back!
