Visited here 1st Oct 23 for lunch based on a friends recommendation. Oh my word !! What a hidden gem this place is. Staff were very attentive, swift and polite. Food was fantastic, plenty of it and cooked well. (Chef please note roast potatoes were a bit dry inside for future reference), plenty of
Lovely little gem and well worth the visit. I have to be honest in my review so although it may not be all praise and flowers, I would definitely go back and am happy to recommend it. On arrival, the hostess was lovely, attentive, did a coat check in and escorted me to our table. Unfortunately they
The best Sunday roast I've ever had. Chose turkey, it was super succulent and delicious and came with the most perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned green vegetables. Lovely!
Good food and drink. Some good deals available on different nights. We had a buy-a-gift voucher for a 3 course meal for two. The voucher covers starters up to £9 and mains up to £23 and I am not sure about dessert but around £8. If you choose something more expensive just pay the extra, oh and it co
Once again, another great lunch.
The food was quite nice and the selection of gin was fantastic. I do find the concept of pre-order for an afternoon tea peculiar, however it did look delicious. In saying that, we then ended up with the Salmon and the Gnocchi for our mains which were equally great. The starters (pictured) were also
Reserved judgement on our first visit as the mains were hit and miss. We returned for the roast dinner and were very satisfied with the food. We were seated upstairs and found the decor dull and outdated. Both wines that we asked for were not available but we were at the tail end of a long bank ho
Nice modern clean surroundings upstairs. Varied menu for a Sunday, but opted for the Sunday Roast, cooked to perfection with a very good quality/quantity balance
I was a little dubious when I read reviews after having booked for the set lunch menu, however I was delightfully surprised. This is an old beamed building decorated to enhance the features with beautifully comfortable large leather chairs. The staff were polite and attentive. The food was deliciou
Lovely food, waiters were extremely attentive and very friendly great experience will definitely go there again
Lovely afternoon tea at this very cosy restaurant and bar. The tea was nicely presented with a good choice along with a complimentary glass of prosecco.Staff were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely go back if in the are.
Food was delicious (for the most part, one starter out of the 10 on our table was overdone and barely edible but they more than made up for that with the mains and puddings). Portion sizes were generous, service very good.
First time I’d visited, we sat out in the garden. The food & drinks were brilliant, the staff were super friendly. It was unfortunate we had a really long waiting time for our food, it seemed a little short staffed. Overall I would definitely go again as the food was really nice.
Spent a lovely afternoon at Hengistthis afternoon. Service was excellent but outdone by the food. Sugar glazed goats cheese is probably the tastiest starter I've ever had and there was nothing but praise for all the dishes had by six of us today. Well done chef
Had an afternoon tea ,to celebrate a 75th birthday. Food was excellent, and plenty of it . The negative was that we had to wait 1/2 hour for the food to come out, especially as 1 guest had to leave to go to work. Plenty of tea shame the first lot was cold. Service was excellent especially as they w
