Reviews Bengal Blue

Our grown up children booked a table at the Bengal Blue as a birthday treat for myself and my husband. There were 8 adults and a 3yr old...plus 2 babies. We went on a sunday evening and it was very quiet, but we could see many many takeaway orders going out so the food is obviously popular! I specifically asked the waiter if the chef could cook myself and my daughter a very low fat curry as we are trying to watch our weight. He took interest in what type of diet we were following, ie low carb/low fat etc....amd the food was absolutely delicious!! Our 3yr old grandson, after eating his food, became a bit bored and amused himself playing beside the table with balloons (we wouldn't have let him do this if the restaurant was busy out of respect to other diners). A couple of the staff were playing with him with the balloons and making him giggle, and our little lad couldn't get enough of them....and the reaction of a 3yr old tells you a lot about how welcome he felt! The staff carried out a birthday cake brought along by my son, and sang "happy birthday" to us along with our kids! All in all we had a fantastic family evening....so much so that we invited them to join us for cake, but unfortunately dietary preferences meant they had to decline. All in all we had a fantastic meal, lovely staff, great evening! Thankyou Bengal Blue

This is a truly outstanding Indian restaurant. Firstly, the restaurant is calm and relaxed, which is perfect for a mid-week meal. The popadoms were freshly made and came with a number of delicious dips. The chicken bengal blue curry was very delicious and went really well with the egg rice. The chicken bhuna was also fantastic. I’d especially recommend the peshwari naan bread. The drinks were also very nice. The service was good and the gentleman serving us was very friendly. This was a perfect meal, and I’d absolutely come back!

I went for dinner on Sunday evening, I haven't been here for about 4 years so wanted to see what it was like now that it's been redecorated. The food was superb but the service was very slow, I had to keep asking for things like pickles another drink etc though I was the only person in the place at the time....I will definitely be back, the chilli masala chicken was spot on.

I had read the previous reviews, but even though lower scoring than the majority of Indian restaurants in Aylesbury, we needed something with later opening because of our schedule, and thought we would make do. How wrong we were, we were in for a treat, the starter a vegetarian sharer for two was enough for the main meal, we had vegetable biryani, vegetable Balti, Saag Paneer, Aloo Gobi, Pilau rice, garlic naan. The presentation and flavours were a knockout. We took our own wine and being the nominated driver I had the in house Coke. Service was just right, being there when needed and not bothersome when not. Prices were a shock we had to check they charged for everything as was more than reasonable to what we pay elsewhere. Will definitely become a regular place to visit. They are in the process of repairs made difficult being a listed building, but once sitting down for food you are in for a treat.
