Met up with family here as a break for journey to Plymouth. The food, drinks and service were very good. Tried to book a roast for us all for the return journey but fully booked. Obviously, a popular restaurant. Strongly recommended
Hadn't been for a few years and was aware there had been change of owners/managers in recent years, but was pleasantly surprised. Good location on Charmouth Road, would be a good base for exploring the Jurassic coast nearby. Plenty of parking and the pub has a nice relaxed ambiance and was busy , but all felt very relaxed.
Good choice on the menu, everyone in the group thoroughly enjoyed the meals, all of which were excellent and Very filling, fantastic puddings too. The service was exemplary from every one of the staff, very friendly and couldn't do enough to help and prices were all very reasonable.
Wouldn't hesitate recommending for a meal and hope to return again soon.
We turned up at 8.24pm and the kitchen closes at 8.30pm the chefs kindly agreed to accommodate us. Food was absolutely beautiful cooked to perfection. Staff were very friendly and helpful, will definitely visit again when down that way. So glad we stopped and they Said yes !!
We stopped here at The Hunters Lodge Inn on a whim for a quick meal. I chose one of the specials which was the nacho burger and my partner had the sausage and mash. WELL... The burger was cooked to PERFECTION and every single ingredient was the perfect quantity. It was the most delicious burger I have ever eaten anywhere and my partner said her sausage and mash was also delicious! The boys at front of house were very polite and professional and the experience as a whole was very pleasant. Highly recommend for any food!
I can only comment on the food as we stopped whilst travelling. Proper pub atmosphere, main meals were decent, the dessert section was really good. Lovely pub garden with plenty of safe space for kids to run aroud. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Stopped in on our way from the Isle of Wight to Cornwall as it was ideally placed beside the A35. I had plaice, chips and peas and my wife had sea bass with garlic new potatoes and mixed vegetables. Food was well cooked, arrived in good time and was well priced. We have stopped to eat in several different places along the route on past trips, this is definitely one of the better ones and on a hot day the large beer garden is a bonus.
I was looking for pubs/restraints to eat out in, in about a 15 mile radius around the hunters lodge area, Somewhere with good food that wasn't going to break the bank was my target as there are quite a lot of Michelin spots with small portions and not so small prices in the area as well as rather cheap and cheerful ones.
The pub had a rustic but tidy aesthetic within, quite to my taste and the service was good.
The food was exactly what I was after, really tasty pub classics, good portion sizes and reasonably priced, myself and my company were all pleased.
I had a good experience and was a happy customer. Would recommend.
It’s back to being a great pub under the new management
Recently booked a table for 20 people, everyone’s food come out cooked to perfection.
The staff and service were fantastic and friendly, will definitely be visiting again!
We have just been in for the first time and what a pleasure it was. We were made so welcome including our dog. The food was amazing and such good value. The staff were delightful and nothing was too much trouble. Read a couple of the bad reviews and quite frankly I’m not sure what you are looking for. The hospitality trade have had such a rough time over the last 2/3 years and need kindness and support. If you had a bad meal (which I find hard to believe) the. Just put it down to a bad day. Slating someone’s business is quite unnecessary. Just don’t go back. But from us, thank you and we will be back.
Didn't use the hotel facilities but the food was well up there! Between our table we had a Smokey Burger, 2 Minted Lamb burgers and one of the special board Nacho burgers and all was cooked to perfection. The chips were piping hot and thicker than some people I've met. Didn't have dessert but the display looked to die for and would have happily taken one of each. Perfect dinner for after exploring Dartmoor for the day, would definitely go again if in the area
