Lots more to see than you may realise. The museum is run by very enthusiastic volunteers. Museum is in development with a number of experiences planned.
The staff were very friendly and although free to enter, contributions are appreciated.
Loved to see how mining was done and the conditions where people lived. They were tough in those days.
I can only echo Graham Culley's review. We arrived on a damp, drizzly afternoon, but it was almost 3 hours well spent. The volunteers are amazingly friendly, very knowledgeable and help you get the best of the visit. Some of the engineering there is quite staggering, especially the steam driven winding engine that raised and lowered the men and coal to the underground mines. All for free, the visit, ample car parking, refreshments and loos.
Another beautiful event.
All ran by volunteers.
