A very traditional pub, fantastic food and excellent service despite being very full. First come first served for tables for food. Good banter with the locals too! And when you get custard, you really get custard.
Stopped off here on the off chance as we didn't want to cook on our last night - a Friday.
Really glad we did!
Was expecting to wait for a table as they were busy, but managed to get sat straight away!
Lovely pub, friendly locals and staff and the food was fantastic - home made, tasty and value f
A warm welcome in this busy dog friendly Inn this Sunday lunchtime.
Good pint of Gamekeeper.
The Sunday roast, a beef & a pork, were delicious and wholesome. Followed by an apple crumble & a jam bakewell, both with custard, no frippery, just good solid Yorkshire dining.
Clean and tidy establishment,
Fresh deco, clean, good simple (non fried) food.
Lovely 'bear garden' in the hillside in the back to catch some sun...
Finally came across a pub on our staycation in the North that had non fried food. (We had omlett with choice of fillings, backed potatoes with choice of toppings)
Have gone to this pub several times on every walking holiday over many years. The food is excellent, all home made, and a great selection at very reasonable prices. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The open fires on a cold day after a walk or in the evening with a beer/wine and a meal are
Wonderful lunchtime meals at the Crown Inn last week!! Steak and ale pie (with chips and peas) and beef lasagna shown!
Great place to come and have a drink and/or eat. Top class homemade food, lovely welcoming staff.
Stopped for lunch in this welcoming pub with friendly locals. I enjoyed a Prawn roll with chips and my husband had a sweet chilli chicken roll with chips. Both were served quickly and as a generous portion, would recommend if you are in the area! Dog friendly inside too!
Had a pleasant 2 hours there on 29th June 2019 ; watching the coast to coast cycle race pass by whilst eating lunch on an outside table. Very cosy old style local pub; nice in the winter with a fire blazing. This was a hot 26C day outside though. Ordered from the sandwich collection ; chicken breast
We called in the Crown on Sunday. Lovely atmosphere, fire roaring, very welcoming. Thanks you for providing our group with evening meals, outside your normal service time.
Excellent home made food. Great service and friendly atmosphere. Always eat here when we visit. Love it
Loved this village pub. Obviously the locals pub as it was full of farmers. We didn't have anything to eat, but from what we saw it looked good and plentiful. Drinks were well priced as well. If in Askrigg drop in and give it a whirl. Bet you go back.
Great evening. Proper home cooking and proper puds. Very busy but well organised and we were served quite quickly by pleasant staff. Great atmosphere
Lovely local pub with a fireplace, dog friendly.
We enjoyed local beer and hot chocolate
A lovely, traditional pub. Fine beers 🍻. A friendly atmosphere and if you are hungry there's a great selection of meals to choose from so will not leave thirsty or hungry.
Excellent pub. Good food and a good selection of beers.
We had steak pie with suet top, mash, carrots peas and cabbage. My wife had a slightly smaller plate. Excellent.
Very warm welcome, smashing Sunday roast and good selection of local ale
Lovely local pub with good food. Staff friendly.
