Review Punchbowl Inn - Askham

I think I found an amazing place here! Full of character and beautiful rooms. The staff made us feel very welcome and were great to have an interesting conversation at our 'cheeky pint before bed' The beds are super soft & very comfortable, we slept very well. The bath was very modern & had everything we need to freshen up. Breakfast was perfect, everything hot & plenty to fill. Decent coffee was a mega bonus! We will definitely be back & can't wait to try the evening meals! Highly recommend 👌

A lovely, friendly, warm village pub with great food and beer. We ate here two nights and found the food delicious and excellent value. The young lady who served us deserves special mention for such friendly, cheerful and efficient service, she made it a very relaxed evening.

We called in after a 7hr trip. Last time we went there was around 6 yes ago. We were not disappointed the staff were nice to talk to. The lasagne was one of the best and my husband's fish and chips same. Definitely will not leave it long to return.

Wet, cold, bedraggled cyclists arrived having battled over Shap. Warm, cheery revitalised bikers emerged ready to tackle the next stage of Lands End to Shetland. Thank you to the wonderful hospitality of our young host. A roaring, well tended fire and good wholesome food did the rest. As all pubs should be, even on a wet Monday lunchtime in March.

Headed here after strolling round the Lowther estate and passing through Askham. Really lovely pub; the food was absolutely delicious and the service was really friendly and efficient. Dog friendly. Highly recommend.

What an amazing pub in an amazing little country village. Simon is a great host, very friendly and helpful. I believe their pub quizzes are a great event to join in with if you are there when they are on. Highly recommend a visit if you are around Askham.

We came here as we phoned up to see if the place was dog friendly which it is. What a gem of a place it turned out to be! Proper chips, friendly welcoming staff and a really nice classic pub menu. Would definitely visit again when we're next in the Lake District

This Lil gem of a pub is amazing. The staff r great fun and very accommodating. Stayed the night after copious amounts of gin from the "gin menu" and having a fabulous Sunday lunch ( cudnt fault a thing and I am fussy). Bed was really comfy and then enjoyed the full English breakfast. Will definitely be back. Can't recommend this place enough. Well done guys ur pub is blooming fantastic. C u all soon from the drunken gin bums!

Very disappointed with my Sunday roast yesterday; the beef was full of sinew and fat and I simply couldn't eat it. I told the waitress but despite this I was charged full price for the meal, probably because I asked for my beef to be put in a dogbag - very expensive dog food though. In fairness my companion enjoyed the lamb she ordered. I was also charged £9 for three (non-alcoholic) coffees which were little better than dishwater (especially the latte macchiato); this place really needs to do some barista training or stop charging a fortune for very poor coffee. I am a local but will not be eating here again or recommending it to anyone.

This is a wonderful village pub the food was excellent served by very friendly staff. We were there on a very damp evening but the lovely open fire gives a very warm welcome and if you are a beer lover the real ales were superb

First time at the inn. Warm welcome from staff. Nice view from room. Accomadation was very comfortable. Had an evening meal and have to say it was dilisious ...... Staff were both very friendly and helpful.........would definitely stay their again...my wife would love it.........

Excellent little country pub just ten minutes drive from Ullswater. We have just stayed for 2 nights and the staff were more than accommodating. The food is also excellent.

Fantastic dinner, amazing variety of Gin (which I made the most of) lovely room with a very comfy bed, super breakfast and excellent customer service all round. Would stay again like a shot!

Fantastic understanding and accommodating staff for two humans and three dogs. Excellent beer and food with first class service. I'll be back!

This is a lovely place. Great food, great atmosphere and a great setting. If you're in the area or fancy a drive out then this is a must.

Came across this lovely Inn traveling through to the The Lake District, bedroom clean and cosy, delicious evening meal, great traditional breakfast and friendly welcoming staff. I would truly recommend. So made our weekend -Thanks Punchbowl

Lunch . Pork and lamb both superbly cooked, good range of veg and super mash. Great portion size. Good service from friendly staff. Will certainly visit again. Thank you
