Staying at the local campsite and decided to walk here for Sunday lunch.
Well worth the walk (approx a mile along the lanes with a few steep inclines!)
The pub is immaculately clean and has instant curb appeal. Lovely beer garden, a little shop selling dog related stuff.
Staff are really friendly and the pub has a lovely feel about modern meets traditional.
Decent beers and great food.
Sunday roast was excellent and good value £13-50 for quality food.
Sweet was great too.
So good we booked to go again.

The pub is really well laid out, plenty of space, and very inviting.

Spectacular friendly service, with staff that were very accommodating of our kids even when they found a lost dog outside sand kept asking questions about it. Food was good and portions were generous. Unfortunately the decoration of the pub wasn’t very in keeping with its environment, looking more like a faux-country pub than an actual one.

First visit in over 5 year, and what a magnificent change. The Rising Sun is now a modern light and airy Pub selling unpretentious great food. With 7 people eating we had a good range of the menu from traditional gammon to Mediterranean chicken flatbread, each plate of food was plentiful and delicious. We will be coming back again.

Omg. Beautiful pub in a beautiful setting. So clean and fresh inside but still retained all it's character. The food was out of this world and the staff and management were amazing. In the middle of nowhere but believe me it's worth the drive....... honestly

Lovely place! We come here when we can. Very welcoming and friendly staff with great service and great food and drink. We had our Christmas dinner here and absolutely loved it. The gardens lovely, it's a vast outdoor area, theres even somewhere to park your horse (post and rail with hay nets on the grass). If this place was closer to newton abbot town it would be packed all the time but it's in the beautiful countryside and makes a great stop for running, cycling, riding, car or motorbike clubs. The family have put alot of work into making an amazing pub, well worth a visit! The menu's changed since covid but the food is still spot on. Its been great seeing this pub get more popular as people discover it but its surprisingly spacious inside and never feels overcrowded even when it's busy. Highly recommended 👌

Myself and my family have eaten at this pub numerous times over the past year or so. The new owners have a done a fantastic job of renovating the place, the food is excellent and you couldn’t ask for a nicer countryside setting. Today we had Christmas lunch and it was brilliant. Lovely warm welcome and good choice on the menu and specials board. My only grumble is they didn't have what my partner wanted. I never knew ice cream could look so posh! Nicely presented food. Would return if back in the area.

We took our 4yr and 1yr old today for a Sunday roast. absolutely great. such a friendly place and the nicest roast we have had out in a long time. The beef was delicious. yummy roast potatoes and lovely selection of fresh vegetables. really great. X so welcoming.
