I really loved this place the owners Chris and lettie were so welcoming the food was amazing so tasty they couldn't do enough to help us we had dinner and went back two days later for breakfast. the conversation about many things was great the place is themed on the sherlock homes novel hound of the baskervills which is based on dartmoor I would definitely recommend this place it's great for dogs to as they are just as welcome as the humans and I hope next time I'm in the area I will visit again to see Chris and lettie and their beautiful dogs snow and poppy

Friendly service, generous portions of food (I recommend the vegan puff pastry pie), and a nice old feel to the building. Also a great (and slightly eccentric) collection of Sherlock Holmes memorabilia...

Food is always very pleasant and the staff will bend over backwards to get things done for you. Warm, cosy and unique atmosphere owing to the Sherlock Holmes theme. Dog friendly In addition to food, they have a well stocked bar and a great selection of ice cream to take away. Pictured : Steak and eggs from the breakfast menu.

Lovely atmosphere and quaint little pub in Ashburton. Food was bog standard comforting pub food, which is something that I desperately needed after a long car journey. I didn’t see any gluten free options or vegan options on the menu the day I visited, which would have been most welcome, as I suffer with a number of intolerances. The food wasn’t the best, but the staff made up for that with their positive attitude. Overall I loved the pubs atmosphere and theme, and the staff were very welcoming and accommodating! Would visit again for a nice pint, but not for food. 🍺

A great find. We were looking for somewhere that welcomed dogs and could cater for a vegetarian who is also gluten free. It was great to see a few options on the menu that were both vegetarian and gluten free. The vegan options sounded lovely as well. The butternut, beetroot burger was delicious. The chef and waitress went out of their way to confirm items were gluten free and that the chips were fried in separate oil. If I wasn't so full, I would have loved to have tried the GF cakes or cream tea. My husband really enjoyed his steak baguette. The dogs were made welcome and the friendly waitress made a fuss over them. The quirky decor was great and I liked the train effect for 2 of the tables. Definitely worth a visit.

Nice litttle dog friendly pub. Quite a few vegan food options, the food was tasty and the portion sizes were big, good value for money. There is a small outdoor area out the back, which wasn't the nicest but we sat there as it was quiet and gave our dog some extra space. Would visit again.

Took wheelchair-bound relative here, for lunch. Access pretty good for such an old building. We had fish and chips, small portions. Still couldn't manage all our chips, which, like the fish were very good. Attentive and friendly service.

Had a very tasty Roast here today. Excellent sized portions. Friendly staff, good menu and choice of Ales . Cosy, warm environment, great on a lovely Autumnal day. Definitely worth a visit. :-)

This is a lovely cosy pub where you and your dog are very welcome. The food is plentiful and really tasty with traditional puddings. (It took 3 off us to eat one apple crumble!) Our spaniel was completely spoilt by the staff and other customers. The only downfall were the toilets - they are outside and it was a cold February day. Apart from that we loved it!🐶🐶💕💕

Ridiculously lovely pub in beautiful surroundings. I didn't know what to expect from the food but it was truly beautiful. Better cod & chips than any I've tasted in the Midlands. Fair price points for what you get

Massive food menu, good atmosphere, I suspect locals in the winter and tourists in the summer. I like the decor, all related to the Hound of the Baskervilles. Got nice diner style seats for family of six and price was not as much as expected.

Grate a quirky little pub, really good food, funny entertaining staff making you feel really welcome, dogs also very welcome and even tho ours laid smack in the middle of the floor all the staff and public happily stepped over him and made him welcome with gravy bones.. And no the barman did not sneak our dog any Lamb from the kitchen 😜 Thanks for a grate evening and good food. Ps make sure to look at all the small details around the pub and visit the smoking area / toilets loads of character..!

Enjoyed a delicious roast Sunday lunch a couple of months ago and must return soon. The smaller plate was plenty, with yummy meat and several veggies, all nicely cooked. Chris made us very welcome and the decor /furnishings depicting Sherlock Holmes famous novel are great fun. They even have an otter and a caged hound! (Not real ones I hasten to add!) Highly recommend a visit for great food and ambience.
