An excellent place to park for the Tissington Trail. £4.75 for all-day parking. Toilets available, along with cycle hire.
I love walking on this trail and used to cycle down it when I was a child, should probably brave it again sometime on my bike. Parking is decent but I go at quiet times to avoid tons of people and traffic etc. The car park itself is a bit bit hidden if you’ve never been before, it’s not really clearly signposted from the ‘main’ road, so do make sure you’ve put ‘Mapleton Lane Car Park’ into your sat nav. There is a pay and display machine that accepts cash and card payments (contactless), a toilet block, picnic benches and a cycle hire booth. There was a little tuck shop/cafe hut a while ago but whenever I have been recently it hasn’t been open, which is a shame. There aren’t many toilet blocks along the trail itself (if you’re walking) so that is something to be aware of before setting off down the trail. You can find some beautiful views, so be sure to take a flask of tea and some sandwiches with you but please take all your rubbish home with you or use a bin in the car park, let’s keep the Peak District beautiful.

Decent car park almost at the start of the Tissington Trail, which is in the centre of Ashbourne, just through the tunnel.
There is a free public loo, little cafe with outdoor seating & cycle hire shack.
Car parking is better 'VFM' than the town centre @ £4 for 4 hours.
The adjacent field overflow car park is useful in popular times in the summer, but the gate is locked quite early.
The next stop along the trail is in 2 1/4 miles at Thorpe junction car park which has no facilities.
Use your sat nav to find it. The ticket machine takes cash or card. Full day only £4.75. Free toilet block, bike hire... after walking Tissington trail it's easy to walk through the tunnel and into Ashbourne for something to eat at a cafe or pub. Well worth the £4.75...we had a great walk & then walked to the George and Dragon pub (dog friendly) for a great post walk meal...
Lovely little car park in a rural setting. Ideally placed to get straight onto the Tissington Trail, brilliant for walking or cycling. The Tunnel runs from the car park towards Ashbourne and is great to get into town.
Ideal place to start your bike ride or walk but beware, there's limited parking spaces... You have toilets and a couple of picnic tables and keep an eye out for the cheeky Robin who visits the table lol 😂....
Great start to a walk. Pay and display machine wasn't taking contactless.
Great place to start your ride on the Tissington Trail. All uphill to Parsley Hay then downhill back
A good place to start the trail to Tissington then on to Parsley Hay . Gradual uphill but downhill on the return .
its a car park! it was busy so parked in overflow field which was fine, plenty of space, only thing thar let it down was no contactless payment (did not work) and no pay by phone / online so had to go to nearby shop and buy something to get change
