Stumbled across this yesterday morning, after dropping daughter and her friends off at Alton Towers. Had breakfast, very nice indeed, service was excellent as was the food. So good in fact, we decided to have an evening meal there too! Again, we were not disappointed service and food was exceptional. Would highly recommend a visit, many thanks
Visited yesterday with a family of four after a full day at Alton Towers. The lady providing the waitressing had been drafted in from the kitchen due to being short staffed .... when we arrived she was blatantly overworked and being treated really rudely by a number of other diners.
She was perfectly polite to any and all (even when they were unnecessarily rude) and was FANTASTIC with us.
Our youngest decided it was all a bit much and decided to have a meltdown, so I ended up leaving with him to calm him down before we ate.
When I arrived back, food was waiting and she was as attentive as she could be and lovely to the boys.
The food was great and well worth the (short) wait .... that is to be expected at 6.30 on a sunny Saturday!!
We will definitely be back if we get the chance - and hope your waitress enjoyed her day off today!!
We passed by chance, popped in for dinner. The menu choices were substantial, with something for everyone. Seeing the chickens on the rotisserie, then tasting them... wow! The food was plentiful and very tasty. The service was very good, all staff very friendly and helpful. The location is very pretty too! I would go back without hesitation if were are visiting the area again.
A excellent place for the family to dine. The food was beautiful. I was well impressed. The staff was very helpful and polite. An they even done a birthday surprise for my girl.
My lovely little family brought me to stepping stone for mothers day after splashlandings. Had a lovely meal and catered for all our needs. We had great service from Laura, very polite and helpful and friendly staff. we will definitely be eating here again.x
Good food, well presented in a timely manner and hot , very accommodating waitress . Value for money, highly recommended hence 5 stars.
The lady in the smart summer dress who greeted diners was excellent, her customer service skills were apparent to me immediately; she was also very personable as were all the staff that waited on our table (Jack is a credit to Stepping Stones and nothing was too much trouble !) Our food was all lovely and priced accordingly. I had the sausage ‘n’ mash, which was very tasty - My wife and I would definitely return. Enjoy the rest of the August Bank Holiday weekend guys :)
Read the negative reviews on here and I’m glad I chose not to listen to them. Could service be better, possibly, but they get minimum wage, what do you expect. Our server was polite and friendly, just inexperienced.
My kofta’s and kebab were fresh, and cooked perfectly, nothing to complain about, spices and sauces blended well with the meal, the only criticism, the sauce in the kebab was a bit thin and was dripping everywhere, but hey, sometimes food is messy.
My partners meal was as expected, not what you would get from a Michelin star restaurant, but spot on good food from a Marston’s chain, I’d happily go back for food.
Visited this pub on three occasions during our holiday in Ashbourne. All staff have been very friendly especially Kieran who went out of his way to book us a table for our next visit, Kieran would make a brilliant manager with his first class customer service. We cannot recommend this pub enough. The food is great quality and excellent value.
Very nice place and food was great. Large portions and friendly staff. Definitely recommend.
£10-£20 PER person. Wasn't busy when we arrived. Plenty of parking, staff seemed nice. We got our order accurately, as we changed a few things. I would say the portion sizes are small, we had a burger with fries, but you would of thought there would be a small side of salad on the plate at least, but there wasn't. The plate just seemed empty, but the food was nice, and the food was hot/warm.
Just excellent. From the moment we arrived our kid loved the outside play area. Spent 15mins having a play as we was early. Went in and was greeted politely and taken to our table straight away. The staff was excellent and helpful with anything we needed. The food was outstanding. Would definitely be returning and definitely recommending the pub to friends and family. Thanks for a great night.
Lovely experience at the Stepping Stones yesterday. A really nice little pub with a play area for little ones. They also allow dogs in which was great. The staff were really welcoming and accommodating for 8 of us (plus 2 dogs!) The food was also really good pub grub. The Yorkshire puddings that came with the mixed roast were huge! I had the chicken & chorizo kebab and added on an extra halloumi & red pepper skewer and it was really tasty. Would definitely recommend this place and we will be back again soon.
Couldn't fault it, went for Sunday dinner and it was great, they didn't do mash but added a side for us and if you like Yorkshire pudding you'll love it they're huge. I had the trio of meats and they were very generous with the amount of meat you get compared to a all you can eat style carvery. Has a lovely atmosphere and great friendly staff will definitely go again
Our experience was top drawer from start to finish. Every member of staff was friendly and attentive and the 3 (different) courses myself and my partner had were all superb - such high quality and tasty food and drinks and a great selection. Our main waitress Laura was fab! We feel very lucky to have had such a great pub next to our Travelodge. We’ll be sure to return the next time we travel up from London to visit Alton Towers! 😊
There were six of us at about 7.30 on a Sunday night - had not booked. We were welcomed and shown to a table. Our server, Ryan, was friendly and took our order efficiently. Food and drinks were served in good time.
I had the milk-chicken burger which was very tasty.
The restaurant was spacious and we had no trouble hearing each other speaking.
Two minute walk back to our Travelodge.
Friendly establishment, quick and efficient service. We had six in our party and all the food arrived correctly and was cooked as we requested it to be. Very impressed.
First time having Sunday lunch here. Fantastic food. Can’t fault it. Left absolutely stuffed. Tina and all the staff so very accommodating. Would recommend anytime. Best Sunday lunch. Thank you
We were greater at yhe door on entry and shown to the dog area to pick a seat, everything was explained about the dog treats and blankets. When we had chosen our food we went to the bar to order and was great again in a friendly welcoming Manor. The food didn't take long to come and it was tasty and good portions, overall we were very pleased with our visit again.
An excellent, early week visit with the dog (hard-floor area only … to the right as you enter). Had a pint (Amstel) and a light bite (Chicken BLT with skinny fries) - Sandwich was just right and reasonably priced. The barman was great, pointing out where to sit and where the water and biscuits for were located, as was the waitress who brought the food swiftly and supportively. A great re-attack; will definitely visit again! Highly recommended.
We had a really lovely meal here. Firstly the restaurant welcomed our dogs which we loved, we chose our meals and went to the bar to pay. The guy was exceptionally friendly and offered advice regarding the menu. The fish and chips was really tasty, in fact all the meals were. We highly recommend quality of food and friendliness. We will definitely return.
A great meal enjoyed by all 6 of us - kids and adults. There was a great selection on the menu, the food was well cooked and reasonably priced.
The service was good and Tina and other members of the staff served us in good time considering we had to get off early for an appointment!
The outside area would have been lovely to sit in if it hadn't been raining.
I also liked the attention to detail - the board on show that offered the loan of a pair of reading glasses if you'd forgotten yours was a lovely touch, and the line of dog bowls available outside if your pet required the use of one was considerate.
Always a great experience; staff are always welcoming and the food is lovely. Great menu with lots of options and very reasonably priced. Always a must on our way home from Alton Towers!
the staff went above and beyond to make my meal just as I requested it due to dietry requirements .Had the steak and it was gorgeous and hubby had the burger which he said was juicy too . The service was excellent from a lovely young lady , Fabienne , who was very professional in her attitude. The manager was a friendly guy and came over to make sure we were happy with everything . had a chat and a laugh which have the room a nice atmosphere . will defiantly return soon . 😁
