We had a really enjoyable traditional British Indian Restaurant meal here. The staff were fantastic, friendly and efficient. The lighting is warm and inviting. It's easy to see why curries taste better in the restaurant then from a takeaway service at home. Ambience is everything and LaVang has plenty of it.
We kicked off with popadoms and the accompanying relishes. One of them was like a mixture of sweet chili, onion and spices. Its' piquant taste proved popular and one of our guests, Steve Fridge ( Fridgy) said it "was amazing", and ordered more of it.
We all enjoyed our starters of tandoori chicken, chicken Tikka and Gulati kebab (minced lamb with a melted cheese centre).
I was a bit upset that they didnt offer bhindi bhaji ( okra) on the menu. However, my gripe didn't last long because our well presented mains soon arrived along with Bombay aloo and perfectly tandoored breads. The Naans was so light and airy that I'm surprised they didn't need tethering to the plate to stop them floating off!
The chicken Tikka jalfrez had a good kick of green chilii and the lamb dhansak's hot, sweet and sour tastes were very well balanced.
Great night, memorable meal and highly recommended.
Not just the best Indian cuisine in the area but the best restaurant full stop. Always a pleasure to visit for both dine in and take away. Always made to feel so welcome.
It has been a while since we've had a curry this good. I often have a prawn puree starter as it is quite a good way to determine overall quality of a restaurant, and the one I had at LaVang (King Prawn Pathia Puree) was superb: the prawns were delicious, the sauce made with fresh ingredients, not runny but not with added thickeners either, lovely heat and somewhat coconutty without being overly sweet. And served in just the right amount. The fried fluffy bread was beautiful and folded on the plate so you're not tempted to assemble it all into a wrap.
As mains I had the Alleppey Monk Fish. Again, simply everything was right about this dish: the texture, the balance in flavours between the sauce ingredients, the heat. Sides of LaVang rice and garlic naan were to a high standard while sufficiently simple to support the main dishes. My husband had the prawn puree starter as well (he keeps telling me that he wished he could eat this every day for lunch and dinner) and the Laal Maas which was superb. I had a small taste of this and agreed: the lamb was full of flavour, sauce was great and the heat was right. We also ordered a side of Tarka Dal which had lovely flavours and again, was not spoilt by thickeners that don't belong. Finally, staffing and service: all good and prompt, given it was a fairly busy night (I'm so pleased that things are improving on this front!). I had an informative chat with the owner (who was as active and busy helping and serving as his staff) about the philosophy behind their dishes, and how they take great care to have all flavours perfectly balanced, so there's no need and in fact it is not recommended to adapt the heat. And he was absolutely right as it was all spot-on. Looking forward to the next occasion that will give us an opportunity for dining there!
The BEST Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to in the 24 years of my life! Onion Bhaji = delicious. Garlic naan = PROPER garlicy naan, delicious. The onion salad with the papadams is the best I’ve ever had. We’re just so so glad we came here this evening and will definitely be returning with our family to treat them to this place. Service is fantastic as well. 😊
Hands down the best dansaak I've ever had. I've collected as takeaway but wished I'd had it to dine in because the restaurant is lovely and Staff are so so welcoming. Perfect place to go to for a meal with friends or a date night. I'm will 100% be returning and recommending to friends
I believe this restaurant changed hands a while ago so don’t take any notice of old reviews
I was recommended to go here and all I can say is WOW
What a beautiful meal and they also serve lovely wine
Atmosphere was so nice too
Can’t wait to return
Well done Lavang 👌👌👍👍
Great service and beautiful food. My wife is coeliac and we were informed all food is made with gram flour (Chickpeas) and rice flour. For the first time in years my wife had onion bhajis and naan bread. Fabulous meal. Thank you.
This must of been my 10th time eating in at lavang with friends. The service is always friendly and attentive. The food is so consistent every time it tastes just as nice as the last, the chefs do not have an off day. Delicious dishes at a very fair price point in a cosy setting. I would personally recommend the achari paneer starter and the special naan to accompany your curry of choice. Looking forward to the next meal already.
Visited this curry house completely by chance as the one we set out to visit we found was closed. What a lucky accident that turned out to be! The restaurant itself is attractively decorated and welcoming, staff discreet yet friendly. Our food was excellent; flavoursome, hot and enticing and quick to arrive and the service faultless. Our party of 4 quite exacting curry lovers could find absolutely nothing to fault in our dining experience , the portions were perfectly sized and nothing was left on any plate. Thank you to all at La Vang for a beautiful meal and we will absolutely be back. It’s worth mentioning that we picked up takeaway menu before we left, something that will definitely be very much used in the future…
Down in Farnborough for the ITT Hub in May. Found this great restaurant. Served a selection of Curry's not had before that tasted wonderful.
Service was excellent
Couldn't fault and would visit again next time in the area.
A second visit in two weeks has been another 5 star experience. I can’t recommend the onion bahjis enough as they are the best ever - light and crisp and fabulous. The specialities are new and mouth watering like the Hariyali and Kamasutra. Traditional tandoori chicken comes on the bone and is good size portion. Attentive and friendly service and the best Indian restaurant for miles around.
Our favourite Indian restaurant of all time! We have been regulars at Lavang since they moved to the area a few years ago, for both dine-in and takeaway. We have tried most things on the menu now and we love that it's quite varied as they offer the usual curries that you would expect at most restaurants as well as a few different options on the specialities menu, so there's something for everyone. Either way,
it is always fresh and tasty, never greasy and the service and professionalism of the staff has always been faultless. We have tried quite a few curry houses in the area over the years but nothing else compares to Lavang!
Great food and atmosphere. Service was excellent. The menu is quite comprehensive with a lot of great options
Lovely meal, the staff were welcoming and accommodating with dairy and gluten allergens. Good atmosphere.

Nice cozy spot with really good food and nice people who are very friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth visiting if you are fancy for nice food.
They have best and delicious food, and staff is very polite, humble and supportive.
We tried the Lavang for the first time last night and the food was great, freshly cooked very tasty. The waiters were attentive and service was really good. The restaurant looked very nice. Overall a good meal and great service we will be going back there for sure.
This little place is beyond amazing. We only moved to the area just under two years ago, and we only discovered these guys last year. We had tried many other Indian restaurants / take outs in the vicinity, but none comes close to La Vang. Indian is without doubt our go-to take out / meal out, and La Vang is simply unbeatable; take away arrives hot, and on time, the dishes are fresh and super-tasty and, as a real treat, the sit-down is outstanding. The beer is cold, the staff are very friendly and they also remember names and faces. Give La Vang a try; you will not be disappointed. May they go from strength to strength.
Had a few takeaways to date, menu offers slightly different dishes to the normal restaurants, the ones we've tried were very lovely. Prices are slightly higher but you do get the flavours come through and the chicken and lamb are of a better quality. Vegetarian dishes tasty too. Give it a try.
