Isle of Eriska Hotel is beyond amazing! We felt like we were in one of the most beautiful spots in the world. The dining experience at the restaurant was perfect. The staff took excellent care of us and we enjoyed walking around the beautiful island and hearing the gentle waves. A truly lovely place.
If you're looking to escape, to walk with no one around, to be wowed by the spectacular scenery of the West Coast then this is your place. Isle of Eriska is magical. The main house is kind of grand, old fashioned with super comfortable sofas, fire places and spacious country house style bedrooms - four poster bed in ours - plus welcoming and attentive staff. Delicious locally sourced food and well stocked proper bar. We loved the loved the croquet lawn and that GnT's were delivered to us pre-play! Our perfectly behaved dog was welcomed too which is always such a bonus.
If you're looking for five star luxury then you wont be impressed by the golf range, putting green or spa facilities or some of the outside accommodation, all are tired but will be refurbed in the next couple of years, so we were told. But that's not why we were here.
Loved our stay - amazing surroundings, old world charm and wonderful staff. This place is a real treat.
Thank you Isle of Eriska. We will be back ,
Great service, pretty gardens and lovely reception areas. If solitude is your thing then this is perfect, however it's a bit far from town for my liking.
Free coffee for tour guides👍
Only stopped by for a drink as we were staying near by. Very good cocktails with a reasonable number of options. Service was great, attentive and helpful without being overbearing. We paid around £60 for 4 cocktails. The decor is a little olde worlde, but a pleasant experience for a day out.
Fantastic location, amazing service and fab food. The island is the perfect place to relax and see nature.
Lovely location and the Victorian suite a fantastic room with 1 drawback the bathroom had no shelf for toiletries/cosmetics. Friendly staff.
I've not stayed here in years as I'm local but it's set on it's very own beautiful little Island, accessed by a metal road bridge. It's a 5 star traditional baronial mansion with an amazing restaurant. It's got 3 AA rosettes for food (heading towards a Michelin star I feel) but it's top dollar too.
We got a special offer with 2 nights 1/2 price but you have to have dinner as well. The hotel is lovely and old fashioned with nice fireplaces. Bedrooms are nice and quiet. Food was delicious.
We spent the whole day exploring the island. Wear appropriate footwear as it is very muddy. If you walk towards Otter point but then follow a path to the right you will find a bench. Sit there and you may see otters on the islands in front of you. We saw 2 at the point (1) and 1 next to the weather monitor (2). We then walked left and on the other island (3) we saw 2 sea eagles. They then flew off, after a long time, to follow a boat. They may get fed by this boat and if so will be on that island every day around 11.30am (maybe 12?) Our dog loved exploring the new smells too. Had a lovely time.
Stayed here before in 2021 and dinner was outstanding. Dinner this time was just OK and overpriced for what it was. Limited a la carte selection and charging 7 pounds for bread? Previous Michelin star chef departed along with his star in 2022.
Breakfast was very good as was the service and the staff. Great location and good facilities. Will be back.
Everything about our stay was phenomenal, starting with the initial impression when pulling up, walking into a beautiful, big sitting room which serves as the lobby, and arriving at our amazing room. The golf was enjoyable and extremely scenic, the grounds were beautiful to walk around, and we even got to see some otters down at Otter Point (be ready to go at sun-up to catch them). Our experience was capped off with amazing food the entirety of our stay - tried both restaurants the hotel offers, much to our pleasure. Truly a memory that will last a lifetime - thank you to the amazing staff for making us feel like royalty!
Pros: Really beautiful hotel and surrounding area. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Shout out to Liz, Struan & Kristy for their impeccable service. Rooms comfortable and very clean. Breakfast good.
Cons: restaurant menu limited and VERY expensive. Our meal was just ok. For the prices charges you would expect so much more. We ordered the steak. Decent size and cooked to liking however 6 chips and a quarter of little gem lettuce let it down.
This hotel is absolutely stunning. The room was enormous and so comfortable. It’s truly a luxury experience. The food and drinks at the bar and the fine dining restaurant were exceptional and it’s fun to wander around the grounds.
The only low point would be that the food at the deck restaurant was nowhere near the quality or flavor of the main restaurant. I was pretty disappointed with my meal there. I would skip this next time.
Another recommendation would be to plan your visit with your own private car as the taxis in the area were not only quite expensive but also quite unreliable.
Travelling into the Scottish Highlands is such a rewarding experience. You get a real sense of calm and detachment from the normal hectic life. This is definitely the case in the tranquil surroundings of the Isle of Eriska Hotel. The former family mansion has been tastefully transformed into a hotel set within stunning grounds on a private island. Their menu is incredible including a 10 course tasting menu. The staff and service is very personal.
Great friendly welcome. Lovely setting. Great history. Only bad bit was cold showers when using the swimming pool. Certainly recommended for a special occasion.
Beautifully landscaped grounds. A must go near Oban for its location on a private island. Georgeous sunset.
Had the best of times at the hotel. Can't speak highly enough of the staff, the room, the location and the food. Staff were exceptionally friendly and made our stay very enjoyable indeed. The food was an absolute joy to experience at both the fine and casual dining. We have told everyone about our amazing time there and would love to go back. We were very glad to take up the chance to experience the archery, the lesson we had was a lot of fun. Lots of wildlife to see including the deer pictured.
Just spent the most fabulous four nights at this spa hotel. I have never experienced such wonderful staff in all of my extensive travels. Nothing was a bother to them. They were also very friendly and amenable. An outstanding young team who made our stay special.
I had a great session of reflexology in the spa. However, for a 5 star hotel, the spa area was a bit of a let down. The ladies dressing area was in need of a lot of tlc. Most disappointing was the quiet room for after treatments. I would expect beds with fine blankets to continue the relaxation experience. It was all a bit basic. This is the only reason I gave 4 stars
However this didn't detract from the wonderful time I had and would certainly not stop a second visit. A big thank you to everyone who made us feel special. 2021was a hard year and the trip was a great start to 2022.
A much-needed retreat after a torrid couple of years navigating family and business through Covid. My stay exceeded expectations, thanks in great part to the people making Eriska the place that it is. The food and wines were first class. The activities were fun with some being truly unique. The setting was stunning and the hotel welcoming and comfortable, its original charm evoking fantasies of more gentle times. I have no hesitation in recommending The Isle of Eriska to friends, family and colleagues. I plan to return. Please pass on my thanks to all staff who made my stay memorable: reception, kitchen (bravo to the chef, sommelier and team), housekeeping, property maintenance, bar.
