Myself and my family had a really enjoyable meal for Mother’s Day. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. The staff are very attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. The decor is very beautiful and makes a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to others and would come here again!

A first visit and won’t be our last! From the outside we thought oh dear what’s this place all about! But once inside we were very pleasantly surprised.A very warm friendly atmosphere and nothing was too much trouble. We missed the turning for Ardley so arrived after 2 but we’re still able to order food .The fish and chips was really tasty and good fish (meaty)and well cooked and presented. The biscotti cheesecake was delicious. The bar manager and staff were very attentive and friendly and nothing too much trouble. The ladies toilets too were also very clean and equipped with little extra touches such as hairsprays feminine care products make up wipes etc !!Its the little extras that show that thought has gone into making a new venture a sucess. My only criticism would be the weeds and pots outside as it may detract customers from coming in and they’re missing a great pub .Wishing you every sucess for the future

Had Sunday lunch here and it was fab! Being a vegetarian, I was pleasantly surprised to have a veggie option AND veggie gravy to go with my roast (we did let them know beforehand) and it was delicious. My oartner and friends all enjoyed their food, cauliflower cheese was lush and the deserts even better! All of the team are lovely and the pub looks fantastic after having a freshen up! I will definitely be back

We had party of 13 last night for 30th Birthday Celebrations. Service was excellent and the food was fantastic which was greatly appreciated as it can be tough to cater for large groups. Kelly and her team were very welcoming! Great range of drinks also, 5 stars from 13 very happy customers x

Lovely little pub. Excellent food. Great decor. Attentive service and friendly staff who were up for a bit of a laugh. Car park round the back is very handy. Portions were a good size, including the pudding. I'd highly recommend giving it a go.

A quintessential English Countryside Pub! Staff are lovely, the building is beautiful, the homemade Pizza's are wonderful, a very warm and welcoming feel as you walk through the door.

Great food, reasonably priced, they have an allergy menu but the chef knew straight away what I could and couldn't have and could adjust dishes to suit. Don't let initial impressions put you off - the pub looks as though it could do with a bit of a spruce up - but the staff were very welcoming and friendly and the food was great. Well worth visiting and a million times better than the A43/M40 services round the corner!

Friendly family run pub. Beautiful and traditional. They put on our wedding breakfast for around 36 people on a buffet style and it was delicious. They were very attentive throughout and they're lovely people, I would highly recommend here.

Wonderful well cooked food and great hospitality. Why eat at a motorway service station when there is a gem of a pub just a couple of minutes from the motorway services. We eat out a lot and love proper good home cooked food. I had the duck and my wife the Seabass. Cooked to perfection, well presented and full of flavour. Well done to the owners, we hope you make a real success of the pub and are sure you will serving high quality food and offering the welcoming service we experienced.

Lovely homely old world pub with tasty food. Seen the signs for ages travelling between Yorkshire and Reading- today decided to pop in for a late lunch. Not disappointed- friendly & welcoming staff, good choice on menu from snacks to main meals, reasonable prices too. Food delicious !

I live in Australia and wanted to surprise my family for Mother's Day and pay for their food! Not only did they all have a lovely meal as they always do, but they were so surprised with who had paid! Such helpful and friendly staff! Nothing is ever to much for them and they always have a smile on their face! Thank you so much

The staff turn this pub from a 3 star to a 4 star rating. Very friendly people running this cozy little old pub. A much better choice for a stopover if you're coming off the M40, than the nearby Cherwell Valley Service station and want a decent meal.

Stopped off here for a bite to eat and a couple of beers during the F1 British Grand Prix Weekend at Silverstone. A very friendly pub with great service, where the food is closer to restaurant quality than pub quality. Sure they run out of some things on the menu, but that was to be expected on what is probably the busiest weekend of the year, what with all the visitors from all over the country descending for the race. But the meal I did have was excellent (salmon with new potatoes). Look forward to returning next year :)

Nice Friendly unpretentious pub with tasty Sunday dinner (inc. a good veggie option). Happy staff, and cosy fire in bar. I imagine this would be a nice summer pub as well as it seemed to have good outside space and garden :)

Brilliant find after the motorway services were closed, two fire engines. Very friendly and even though it was very busy they found room for 7 and served us delicious food very quickly. Great local pub just a bit far from Wirksworth in Derbyshire 😃
