Went there with my sister on a day out. Nice little take away. Freshly made waffles. I got the strawberry and cream waffle. And a take away tea in a fully recyclable cup. The waffle was lovely and staff very nice.

We stayed in Appledore for a month and the two outlets of John’s became or go to for groceries. Our favorite finds we’re the dried tomatoes with garlic and olives. They also stock many plant-based basics like milk, high quality pastas and fresh vegetable and not very basic items like cream, hummus, gyozas, soups and a lot more. They stock some amazing Devon honey. My husband liked the pasties, he tried the veggie and the steak ones.

Deli has a lovely range, quite a good selection. Staff were attentive. Scone was quite dry and I would have preferred to option to buy just one rather than two, though I did like the fresh strawberries alongside.

What a wonderful cafe. A lovely, although compact, place to relax and enjoy fresh and excellent homemade food. I chose the cheese toastie which was beyond ordinary, accompanied with a fresh side salad and was most delicious. The fresh coffee and tea was to perfection. Well done to all the staff in this multi award winning cafe.

Whilst visiting appledore my husband and I stopped at Johns cafe and had a takeaway lunch which we ate on their table and chairs outside in the shade while our little one slept in the pram. My husband had a cheese and chilli jam toastie and I had the chicken, mozzarella and pesto panini. Both were absolutely gorgeous. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and a special thanks to Jan who made our yummy lunch 😊

We have a great stop here on a wet morning. The breakfast butty was perfect and the Mocha wasn't bad either.

My 8 year old still says these are the best Croissants ever, three years on. Given the number she eats trust me this is praise of the highest order.

A great selection of deli type foods, we ordered breakfast baguettes on a couple of mornings which were just lovely. And during our stay we popped in to pick up some bits. My only negative, was that it is quite pricy, you do get what you pay for and it is all really good quality, but if you were to be on a budget there are not many places in Appledore to use for essentials.
