Best eatery we have been too whilst visiting Scotland. The steaks are amazing and the best I have tasted in years! Very welcoming and helpful staff with speedy service, can't recommend enough. A must if visiting near Appin, Oban or Fort William. Thank you guys!

Unbelievable! The steak is so tasty I believe it must be Unicorn or something else magical. I could actually serenade that steak it was so amazing. I had it 2 weeks ago, couldn't stop thinking about it, so made the 45 minute journey again just to experience it once more, this time with more witnesses who all agreed this is infact the best steak ever. Packed with flavour, and so soft and smooth, it was like coffee flavored butter! Already planning to return next month. I can't do it justice in words.

The steak is just to die for, the staff are friendly and the Punk IPA is just the job to quench a summer’s day thirst.

We used to rent the old inn a few years ago so a bit weird to eat in our old kayak store, but can honestly say one of the best sirloin steaks I have ever had, hubby had T-bone which I also tasted that was really good. Would most definitely reccomend and we will for sure go back.

Fabulous! Full of rustic charm! Popped in for a drink after dinner one night whilst staying at linnhe marine and saw the meals being served. Had to go back and eat and it didn't disappoint! Mussels and steak were ace, cooked and seasoned to perfection, and the teens said the burgers were excellent too. They even made the dog welcome. Will definitely be back next time we're over that way.

My dinner at the Old Inn was an added bonus to my travels in Scotland. My ribeye steak was cooked exactly as I like it and the flavor was truly mouth watering. The building shows the charm of its historic past and the views outside leave nothing to the imagination. Don't miss the opportunity to dine here and as quiet as the area seems, you'll want to make a reservation. I was a party of one and they got me in yet if I arrived 30min later, it's very likely I'd have had quite the wait as it's not a place you want to rush through your meal. I will return.

Absolutely delicious and worth every penny , probably the best meal I've had and we were very impressed and can't wait to go back! Steak was cooked beautifully and was massive (sirlion) will definitely be trying the t bone steak next time, the sauce was so rich and creamy and the chips are homemade.

An amazing place to visit, first of all, the view of the castle is spectacular, then you walk into a very cosy restaurant and the smell of the stake cooking hits you! You have made it to 'The Old Inn' . Take your seats and immerse yourself into the atmosphere of a top-notch stake house. The staff are so welcoming as a party of 8 people and 2 dog's, we was all catered for! We all loved the food and just really enjoyed the atmosphere of the whole stake house. The character of the building and the breathtaking view just added to it all. If you are going to Scotland (near Port Appin) 'The Old Inn' is a must, make sure you book yourself a table and enjoy your time at the best stake house in Scotland. Thankyou to all the staff for taking such good care of us all and making a fuss over the dog's.

This place was excellent. From the outside it doesn’t look much but once you get inside it’s got a cosy inviting atmosphere. The food was delicious. We had one fillet and one ribeye. Both were succulent and melted in the mouth. Sides were also fantastic and both had the sticky toffee pudding to finish. The chips were superb 👌🏼

An unreal feed at The Old Inn!!! The staff were incredible when my son got stung by a wasp and one of the girls ensured we had what we needed to ease the pain from the string. The views of Castle Stalker are just amazing and it’s such a relaxing place. Most of our group were from New Zealand and they though the food and experience was just 10/10.

An absolute must if you are near Appin, definitely book in advance. If you are a fan of a steak you will love this place. Dog friendly as well and dogs are treated with the same level of customer service with their own water bowls.🥰💕

We didn't really anticipate having to book for a meal at The Old Inn by Appin on a dark Tuesday evening in late October (2023). But it turns out we did ... and we are so glad we managed to secure a table. We were offered an early 17.30 table or a later 20.00 sitting - we chose the latter. The restaurant was perfect for us and our young Border Collie dog, Jura. It was rustic, homely, and very authentic. The staff were brilliant - super attentive to us humans and our wee dog. Nothing was too much trouble. The other patrons were also so friendly. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the food - we both had 10 ounce fillet steaks - which were absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection (medium rare) and melt in the mouth. The Sticky Toffee Pudding to follow was one of the best we've tried. All in all ... it was a fantastic evening. We highly recommend The Old Inn - and will be back as soon as possible. You won't be disappointed. Thank you ... The Old Inn

Lovely old coaching inn in Appin. I’ve driven past it multiple times but never been there before but treated myself to a meal out for the last night of my holiday. Excellent rump steak and fries with pepper sauce: good quality meat, incredibly tasty. Service was good and the venue is very dog friendly. Good music and chilled vibe. Will definitely go again if up this way. Thank you :)

Absolutely superb. The staff are ever so kind. The choice of drinks is top notch. The food is outstanding. It's the first time I've ever uttered the words "If this is the last meal I eat before I die I'll be happy..." Beautiful views, excellent value for the quality and setting, really can't wait to return. Remember to book a table though 👍🏽

This is a rustic local secret... not so secret! If you love amazing beef you'll love the Old Inn. They do serve a few other items but it's heavy on the steak 🥩 and well known as some of the best. Service felt a bit hectic but efficient and staff were really friendly. The small dark dining space was packed. It's Old , the clues in the name...and there's a lot of tables closely packed Inn (it does what it says on the tin 😁). You'll need to book way ahead in Summer as it's hard to get a table, especially at weekends. Don't complain on 'trip' because you'll face the wrath of the owner but Jim's responses do make for an entertaining read! Hopefully he won't be upset with my review here lol. The only challenge was disabled access is a 3/5 for us. It's really very tight and a rough path leads up to a 90 degree turn with inward opening doors & a small step. We were made very welcome though and we do love the place. It's the least pretentious, genuine eatery in the area. 5 star reviews say enough for it to be a great spot for 90% of diners. Two other notes. It's opposite Stalker Castle which is amazing and it doesn't look much from the outside. It's right on a busy road and even the old conservatory at the rear was full of rubbish. It's definitely not pretty but that's not why you're going their to eat.

We loved this place! It was recommended to us by our B&B host and was excellent. The building is the oldest inn in Scotland, established in 1690 and resurrected in 2014! We went for their steaks as that’s what they are known for, but their large pot of mussels with bread was delicious and just the right amount to share between two. We also shared the T-Bone steak and we devoured it, along with that yummy peppercorn whisky sauce that we would have drank if possible. The chips were some of the best I’ve ever had and the staff, especially Ross was incredibly welcoming and friendly. It was a cozy atmosphere with great music and just the right amount of chatter and energy. Such a great experience we were sad to go. Can’t wait to visit again!

Old quirky restaurant, candle lit tables and log burner. Steaks are beautiful cooked and seasoned just as you like them, come served with crispy chips and a rocket parmesan salad. Good selection of drinks behind the bar. Have been twice now and will go again. Steaks include sirloin, ribeye, 11oz fillet, 26oz t-bone. Deserts after if you have room.

You have to go here, fantastic, steak was to perfection, wife had the chicken and again perfection, sticky toffee pudding is the best I have had anywhere. Setting is second to none, back drop of the beer garden has castle stalker , after spending four days at a 4 / 5 star hotel 6 miles south of Oban it was a 24 mile run north to come for some food, the place itself is nothing more than an old barn, no windows and lighting from big candles, stone floor old wooden tables from 50+ years back along with the seats, so those who want a palace go eat in the hotel I was in, the reason why this is so good is you get what you pay for, fantastic service, nothing was too much, food that in fairness our hotel was charging twice the price for half the quality and quantity. You need to book well in advance it's not a pub you turn up to and grab a table, all tables are reserved. All I can say is it's a fantastic experience and for those who want a good steak and chips, chicken and chips, with traditional pub type desserts, absolute must, and the best thing it's not one of these places that have been ruined by cheffy dishes of nuggets of beef on two new potatoes split with a sprig of rocket and a circle and two dots of brown sauce, this is wooden slabs full with what you choose and beautifully cooked and served, forget your Ramsey endorsed places, go here before clowns like him get their hands on it a mess it up... Well done to the team at the old inn.. A+++ we will return. Thanks for such a wonderful meal and don't change a thing that you do...

Had the best filet steak. Absolutely huge and perfectly cooked. Simply served with a small salad, a huge pile of chips and a bowl of pepper sauce on the side. Very tasty! Sadly left no room for dessert. The fact it's dog friendly was an added bonus. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area.
