Yesterday 9/4/18 the pub hosted a funeral reception for us ........ Everything was perfect - hot drinks ready on arrival - food was superb and the staff friendly and helpful ..... Loved the patio area with a fire burning and blankets to keep us warm for those that braved the outside on a wet and cold day.
Thank you
Great place for a beer, bit of food, live music. Can't recommend highly enough. You won't be disappointed
Superb organisation, hospitality, service and food today from start to finish. Thank you so much Jo, Steve and all your staff. Perfect Christmas lunch for our group of 40 people. I would thoroughly recommend the Squirrel for anyone looking for a great place to eat you won't be disappointed x
This place was an absolute gem, food incredible, staff were all fantastic and the pub and garden were beautiful. Very child and dog friendly and look forward to returning.

Sunday roast was beautiful! Nothing was any trouble we asked for more veg and we got it no problem!!! More gravy too!! Lovely staff would highly recommend!
Always great to come back here. Good food and a wide selection of well kept ales. Friendly staff and a perfect location for a nice post lunch stroll.
Turned up on a hot Sunday with no booking and they couldn’t have been more accommodating and the beer was excellent.
Nice Sunday roast
Really good classic village pub. Good range of cask beer and super food!! Also dog friendly which matters a lot for us.
A warm welcome from Steve and Jo in a lovely child friendly traditional pub... great craft beer and local gin as well as the usual beverages...food excellent.... in particular the homemade scotch eggs! Mmm....
Fantastic proper pub grub, beer kept well and really friendly helpful staff. Dog friendly and child friendly all in all a great place to go
Great food and lovely atmosphere
Good food. Kid friendly. Would recommend.
Fantastic atmosphere and unashamedly olde worlde. Great staff, comfy chairs, real fires, ales and cloudy ciders on tap and some of the finest local music talent every Friday night.
Great for kids, nice garden. Good ale, good food, friendly staff.
Cosy friendly environment love the comfy chairs and great atmosphere good times x
Great pub with a massive garden, food is good quality and atmosphere is great. Accepts (slightly) muddy boots and dogs which is useful as it's opposite the cricket pitch and some woodlands.
In the summer the garden is a real bonus with plenty of seating, a good climbing frame/playset for kids and cover as well.
There is some parking onsite and there is some onstreet parking around although it gets busy as this is white a popular spot - but no worries if it's full try your luck at the Hit and Miss around the corner!
Accessibility wise there are some steps inside, do get to the 'restaurant' and to get to the loos. The carpark is gravelly and prone to puddles and there is limited pavement if you park on the road, which has some significant potholes.
Sunday lunch was a solid 8/10 for the chicken which came with decent roast potatoes (not too crispy on the outside), excellent vegetables (beautifully cooked carrots, green beans, cabbage), a good amount of chicken on and off the bone. Let down by the lack of a Yorkshire pudding, ordinarily I’d be insulted by that, but the super pork (?) crackling on top of the chicken and the weirdly square and thin slab of slightly toasty stuffing, I think that’s what it was. It was good.
Beers on tap all decent. Nice atmosphere, lovely service, little garden out back, dog-friendly - look forward to coming back some time.
We were a bit hesitant to visit this pub after reading some of the reviews but it turned out to be a great place that we will definitely be visiting again very soon! The food was excellent and very flavourful and all of the staff were lovely and very attentive. The service was pretty slow throughout our meal but the food was definitely worth the wait ☺️
Ok pub.
Good range of beer.
Very expensive, over £12 for 2 beers!
Excellent garden at rear.
Good place to sit and watch the cricket.
Lovely pub, in a peaceful location with lots of space...Nice outdoor seating. Food was fantastic, friendly and helpful staff, though service a bit slow
Good food. pies a bit tough from reheat and elements not available. pricey for what's on offer. beer was good. midweek pretty quiet but good location.
Lovely location opposite the village cricket pitch. Plenty of outside seating. Friendly staff and tasty food. Worth a visit if in the area
One of the best pubs in the area. Highly recommended....fantastic location, good service with interesting menu options!
Nice staff and a great kids play area, sadly the food is normal frozen food fried or reheated, nothing bad but nothing special. They looked to have a good selection of beer and ale though which would have liked to try.
Lovely pub in the village of Penn Street, Amersham - in the heart of the Chilterns AONB. The food and service were excellent. This is a great place to have bite to eat before a day of walking in the surrounding woods and trails. Highly recommended.
Really nice first visit. They warned us of a wait for food on entry but it was worth the wait. Pork tomahawk was a highlight!
Had a lovely veggie Wellington Sunday roast here. Great service too!
A great place to sit down after hiking all day as it has a great climbing frame for kids to keep them busy.
Nice secluded country pub. Good range of beer and cask ales. Food menu has a lot of options including gluten free. The place has a few fireplaces and a play area at the back with outdoor seating as well. Family friendly and dog friendly too.
Nice place , front and back garden, can park right outside , nice big green out the front, and Penn woods also.
Recently reopened - refurbished sympathetically inside and tidied up outside. Still has the children's play area in the garden.
Menu is more comprehensive than before, our mains all arrived hot and cooked well just felt slightly lacking. Will be back as its not been open long so would like to try more of the food, it's much improved over all
Epic Discovery alert - first time here since it was refurbished last year , welcoming cosy pub with roaring fires, good selection of beers . Very good wine list
Starting with excellent olive, bresoala, pine nuts , leaves and mustard dressing, on to lamb short ribs with slaw and spiced aubergine salad . Cherry meringue dessert
All executed perfectly.
Go before everyone finds this quintessential pub
Add to all this an eclectic curated mix of music .
Reasonable for the high standard of food
This is the second time I've visited the pub. The food is lovely, decor cosy and staff are friendly. It is pretty disorganised though and could do with someone getting the ship in order a bit more. When you walk in you have to ask for a menu,
it's not clear whether you have to order at the bar or not.Staff need to be more assertive and lead customers to where they should be or where they need to sit etc. During both visits, our order came to the table with dishes missing. Aside from that, very nice. Leaving this review to try an help improve things as it is a shame...
