Very nice food in a lovely period building. Not what you'd usually expect for an Indian restaurant but made a nice afternoon out for us.
The free parking at the back is very handy too and Amersham is a fun little town to visit. The dhal and rice were delicious. Loved the cumin flavour in the rice. Quite unusual but worked well.
Had Father’s Day set menu here which was good value and food was absolutely delicious. We were sat on a shared long table with a large family with babies in a small side room which did affect atmosphere but can’t blame the restaurant for that. Finally our service was lacklustre, we were a table of 5 and everything was brought in 4 so kept having to ask for more, had to rearrange drinks to be given to correct diners even though we said who ordered what. However we did inform the staff of this and it was expertly handled and they were very polite and understanding and removed service charge & comped one of the drinks so was very pleased with the handling and would definitely recommend
Superb food, great value and first class service.
Highly recommended.

Amazing evening. The service was fantastic, very attentive. They explained each dish on the tasting menu so we could have a full experience. The food looked beautiful and tasted delicious. It was a very busy restaurant with a great ambience as well as having great character. And best of it was halal.
Thank you for the great experience.....if I met chef Atul that would have topped my evening☺️
Third visit, a very rare thing for us, love the food and service.
Also feels like really good value, 6 course tasting menu plus a few extras thrown in for £59. You get a decent size main and leave feeling very comfortable.
Currently there is also a special signed booked for free via OpenTable.
Love it.
Great food and service. Highly recommended fine dining Indian restaurant.
It's such a shame the word "Indian" leads some people to have false expectations. Yes Hawkyns may look pricey, but only when compared to your standard Indian. This place is a million miles from "standard", and the prices are sensible by fair comparison.
Every single dish we have tried from the refreshingly small menu is truly exceptional in terms of skill, flavour, texture and presentation. Don't expect anything vaguely conventional here. Expect adventurous but beautifully balanced, flavoursome dishes, at prices that compare very favourably with comparable up-market Indian restaurants in London.
So why only 2 AA rosettes (and only a 4 star review here)? Well the decor is pretty basic, the service is friendly but informal and a little slapdash, the toilets are utilitarian, and the atmosphere is somewhat lacking. However if you just come for the food it really is seriously good. Highly recommended.
What a superb experience. The food was excellent, from the amuse bouche, the sheek kebab, the sea trout and the acahri lamb which was succulent and tender. Excellent attentive staff and service, will be back!
This was a lovely evening. The service was attentive, glasses kept topped up regularly. Staff were friendly and even though the restaurant was busy, nothing felt rushed. The food was utterly delicious. We had the tasting menu. It wasn't spicy, just lovely fragrant and delicate flavours. The place is cosy, with a lovely buzz about it. Definitely worth a visit.
We had a lovely evening at Hawkyns. The food was delicious. Our waiter Chetan was exceptional, he was friendly and very attentive.
