My wife and I have just had a chippy tea at the sun cottage chippy. 2 x Pie Dinners, (chips, pudding, gravy and peas) the price was brilliant only £13 for the pair of us!!
One of the best chippy’s we’ve been to, (we’ve been to many!) everything was spot on including the service. special mention to the beef puddings they were superb. We’ll be returning when we’re in the area for sure.
Great chippy, the batter on the fish was crispy and not at all greasy. The chips were cooked beautifully and the curry sauce was a Chinese style and my fork literally stood up in it which is exactly how I like it. 100% will be eating here again.
What a great little chippy, food was really nice 👌 if your ever in the area you should deffo go.
Popped in just before closing. Ordered 2 x fish suppers to take out.
Assistance by Tracey down the steps as my mobility is poor. Thank you both for a delicious fish supper
Got dinner here tonight for a large group. The staff were really friendly and let us take a menu away to come back later when we were ready to order. Food was tasty, fresh, and cheap (coming from London!).
One of the best battered fish I have ever had. Staff also very friendly and provided a sausage for the dogs and gave us half a dozen tea bags, as we had just travelled 7 hours to a holiday cottage (forgetting tea bags) and the local shops were shut!
Great fish and chips. Ordered them and they bring them to the pub next door for you. Can't fault any of it
We travelled from Liverpool to stay local. This chippy was amazing. Best one ever and there are loads of them in Liverpool but not like this. Reasonable prices too
Excellent little chippy, decent prices, and you can eat next door at the pub.
Was really happy with the food, service and price. Great link with the pub next door so you can get a decent beer with the food
Absolutely fantastic food. The best fish, chips and steak pie I've ever tasted.
Pros:
* Lovely fish
* decent chips
* friendly, fast service
Cons:
* they forgot one of the battered sausages we’d paid for (too far to go back)
* a large portion of their chips just isn’t that large
* impossible to tell the difference between their large and regular fish.
* the curry sauce was different than we’re used to in a chippy (more like the sauce for a Chinese curry - appreciate this is just personal taste)
Just about makes 4/5 for the quality of the fish. We’d go back.
Amazing service, lovely atmosphere and good pricing in both pub and chippy
Visiting Hawshead for a couple of hours, I found this superb Chippy.
I only had chips, but they were absolutely delicious - in all honesty some of the best i've ever tasted- it must be the oil they cook in.
Friendly couple in charge, and I can thoroughly recommend this.
The only place of good value in Hawshead. £3 to park for 2 hours, and 50p to use dirty toilets. I ask you.
And all the twee rip off shops with huge mark ups and stuff nobody wants.
If you go to Hawshead make sure you've plenty of money.
Good food and reasonable price for the area, 4 people fed for just over £20 and some of the chunkier chips I've ever come across. Unlike a lot of chippys they don't extort you for sauce packets, only 3p each!
Good selection of food, fishcakes are good thick ones not normal thin mostly potato affairs.
At the lakes for holidays, had homemade fishcake chips n peas from here. It was delicious, generous portions and very reasonably priced. Definitely would highly recommend this chippy.
