la última semana en Google Really nice place to stay. Has its own Parking in the front. Rooms are really cosy and warm with central heating, bathroom is huge and very complete. Lots of pillows, blankets and duvets, so you are really warm and confy. Very nice toiletries and an amazing choices of teas, cofee or hot chocolat and a kettle in the room. The Inn is amazing, very old and beautifull house but very well preserved and nicelly decorated. I fell imediatelly at home, like I have been here all my life! Chimney was on, really warm and familiar place! Staff is really friendly and very helpfull. Plus, they allow Doggies, even include a small doggy section on the menu, have free fresh water and biscuits available and have a small shop section for doggies. Really sweet! Food is amazing, breakfast includes a lot of choices (Recomend the Cumbrian Breakfast). By the way, the scones with cottage cream are to die for! The old stables are now the Games room, where you can sit down, play darts or board games or just sit down and relax with your friends. The Inn is really near the ferry so you can cross the lake (4.40 pounds) and drive around. I would recomend it 100% to all the people, specially if you are looking for a place to stay with your doggies. Well done Cockoo Brow Inn! P.S. I just had dinner and the Slow Cooked Pork Belly was amazing! Kale, chestnuts, lovelly potatoes...what else can I ask for? Really generous portions. Thumbs up Cheff.

We booked up at last minute and spent Friday and Saturday night here. After a delay for the room(out of the staffs control) we checked in. The room was excellent And the kids were really impressed with their own little nook with their bunk beds in. We ate in the restaurant Friday and Saturday night and the food was good quality and reasonably priced. We got a complimentary bottle of wine for the delay to our room, which was nice touch. The breakfast was good quality food and again, really tasty The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much bother. They were great with the kids too. Would highly recommend and will definatly be back.

Well.....what a wonderful few days.....THANK YOU Loredam and Michaela for making our stay SO memorable!! We arrived to find our very comfortable and lovely rooms....and my 89 year old father was accommodated last minute in a ground floor room ....thank you ! The food at breakfast and dinner was the best we 've had in the Lake District. . ....We loved the way Loredam came out and spoke with us about our choice of main course.....making changes and customising our dish to our taste ....and the smoked cod loin was DEVINE.....the lamb melt in the mouth.....and the fish and chips as good as it gets !! We were further impressed by the welcome our little Flossie received....a very discerning cockapoo who has already indicated she d come back in the blink of an eye !!!! It was soooooo refreshing to find a dog friendly pub which does not compromise on the quality of it's food and hospitality.......utterly unpretentious.....but fantastic cuisine ! Thank you both ! We 'll be back xxAlison and John

Had a marvellous stay here. Very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room and good food. The best thing for us however bringing a dog is how well they are catered for. From treats when they arrive to them being given attention and made to feel at home. We have visited a number of times now and have never been disappointed.

Just had a great lunch here after our visit to Hill Top. Fish and chips, ham, eggs and bubble squeak. Outstanding quality. And the dark local beer is great - looks like Guinness but tastes much better. Very friendly and helpful staff. Child and dog friendly. Thank you for making us welcome.

I went here for dinner over the weekend as we where staying in the village. We had a dinner Friday and Saturday. The menu was great and the staff were lovely and friendly . The service was exceptional on the Saturday it was my birthday the put a fire work candle in my cheese cake when they found out it was my birthday and came to the table and sang happy birthday to me. I would like to thank them for that they made my day. I would recomend this place to go to everybody. Good value for money fabulous service and clean and tidy.

We had lunch there and it was very good. My husband had the steak and Guinness pie, which was a proper pie with a base and I had a Cajun chicken sandwich. The staff were friendly and attentive and the pub is a lovely setting with lots of interesting pictures on the walls.

This is an old-fashioned, cosy country Inn set in a beautiful place. The food is classic and really tasty, and they have a few very good ales on tap. They have a children's menu and are very dog friendly. We visited on a sunny day and it was lovely to sit at the outside tables in front of the main building. When it got colder, there were log fires and a wood burner inside keeping the bar and dining area very cosy. The staff were super friendly and attentive and there were vegetarian and vegan options available on the menu. The fish and chips were lovely and the Sunday roast was of a good standard. It's true that some areas of the building could do with a bit of investment and redecoration but the place had a nice relaxed and casual feel to it and the food was a hit with everyone in our party. Really hit the spot after a long day walking!

Stayed with friends for first time since Covid having been coming for several years before. Did not disappoint! Cozy, dogs everywhere, fires lit and very friendly staff. The food was excellent . Slightly limited menu but didn’t mind that as quality so good. However if you were staying for longer than three nights you may end up repeat ordering. Having said that staff said extended menu choices in progress. Beer and wines lovely. If I was picky I would say our bathroom needed a bit of an update. Still very clean. Prices still very competitive and we love the place.. we will be back! Would just like to add that lighting needs dimming, far too bright for convivial atmosphere, management please note as I see other people have mentioned this. Turn off overhead spotlights, keep wall lights and candles on tables would be perfect.

Popped in for lunch and had the best meal we have had for a long time. The menu had great choice and everything was delicious and home made. I would highly recommend the lotus biscoff cheesecake.

I don't want this to sound too critical as I really enjoyed my stay. But there are some items that would have made my stay even better. That is some of the fixtures and items within the room weren't perfect. Poorly installed WC which isn't the correct pan for the frame and it sits too low. (My job includes high end apartments and plumbing defects). Also the toilet seat is incorrect and therefore working loose. The room appears freshly painted and the fixtures hadn't been removed therefore covered in paint. So take these items away. Again I must stress that I really enjoyed my stay but offer some constructive criticism as to what I would expect. I had breakfast included which was very good, the evening meals although are on the expensive side they are excellent and offer large portions, I struggled to finish each meal due the portions. It just would have been better to have a special or two to add a bit more choice and I know only one vegetarian option and no Vegan will mean some will struggle. Again, I must stress the food was excellent as to quality! Other improvements I would suggest would be a charging point for my EV, again I managed to get around but it would have been great to be able to charge at evenings. Please take these comments as purely my personal suggestions as to what I must say was great few days away, I will be back (if they allow me!) Thanks to the staff for a great relaxing break. Just some items do need improvement or could offer an even better experience.

Olde worlde charm and if you like being rural, this fits the bill. Food good and varied caters to all tastes, comfortable rooms and communal areas. Can get busy and car park only big enough for about 10 cars, nice seating area outside, but on quite a busy road.

Lovely one night stay at the hotel. We last stayed there a number of years ago and returned because of its location and reputation for being dog friendly. It is under recent new management and still doesn't disappoint. The room was more than adequate for our stay. We, foolishly, forgot our dog bed and bowl. No problem, the hotel helped us out. We ate in the restaurant in the evening. Food was excellent washed down with a good bottle of wine. One minor comment would be that it should not be assumed when serving food that the man's is the meat dish and the woman's the vegetarian. Easily solved as we just swapped them the correct way, but it's such a common mistake which is easily solved by just asking. Good night's sleep and an adequate continental breakfast (extra cost as not included in our room booking) Our dog was well received by the hotel staff and a particular mention to Casey who was both very professional and attentive to us as customers and our dog. We'll certainly be back.

We went here on a whim as were staying nearby & reviews were great. This was probably my favourite meal I’d had all week in the lakes! The pan fried cod was delicious and my husband said the pie was incredible-the best steak pie he’d ever had. Really highly recommend this place, the service was incredible and food unforgettable

Stumbled across this fab little Inn on a wet, windy day on our travels. Great atmosphere and charming feel to the place, wood burner in open fireplace, pet friendly, the cauliflower and cheddar soup was delicious. Main dinner menu looked appetising as well. Shame it was our last day, otherwise we would have been back for dinner.
