First meal here under new management. Very wide choice of tapas style plates, all delicious. We didn't realise how generous the portions were, so slightly over ordered. There's often a free band on Friday, always been good. Give the George a try.

Popped in here on a Friday lunch with work friends and had a great chicken burger! Having not been in for a few years they have really upped their game and improved everything - the only moan would be the gent's loo (no light on and needs a refurb)

First time back here since it reopened. Needs softening. Flowers on tables, take a few out to unclutter. Food good and staff very friendly. Would go back. Need to tidy up outside, didn't look open. Just little things but it would help to get people through the door.

Came here for lunch via the Watercress Line Heritage Railway as gluten free was mentioned in the reviews. It was a long walk from the station. The whole menu and kitchen is gluten free, but the menu is very limited which dampened the excitement. Such a shame as its a great idea to be fully gluten free. Could do with a few more simple pub classics on the menu like sausages and pies or all day breakfast etc. Still, tasted good with a good range of drinks and friendly staff.

The roast dinner I had recently was an absolute delight! The perfectly cooked roast meat was tender and flavorful, while the accompanying side dishes, such as roasted vegetables and crispy roast potatoes, were simply delicious. The meal was complemented by attentive service and a cozy ambiance, creating a truly enjoyable dining experience. If you're craving a satisfying and comforting meal, this roast dinner is a must-try!

Updating my review to reflect the new tenancy. TL;DR - Good pub. Great food. Nice concept - something different for the area. Having seen the new menu before the re-open I was keen to visit and try out the gluten free menu. The menu feels progressive and thoughtful with something for everyone. The added bonus is that everything is gluten free- which brings a welcome change to the rest of the pubs in the area as this had previously been something only really found in larger towns/cities. It is with noting this also extends to a selection of gluten free beers. Being an advocate of a gluten reduced diet this is perfect, and the food tastes excellent (if you are worried that the gluten free aspect detracts from the overall taste/quality of the food this is certainly not the case!). Not much, however, can be said for the décor as the inside of the pub was mid renovation when we visited- this didn't present an issue due to COVID restrictions meaning we had to eat outside under a marquee. We are looking forward to seeing what they do to the place! All in all a great dining experience with fab food and attentive service. I hope this pub continues to thrive under its new tenancy whilst maintaining its welcoming and cosy atmosphere. Ps- the website also states the aim is for zero waste after the first year - which is a huge positive in anyone's books!! Pps - go for the gluten free brownie and thank me later!

Never been before but will definitely be revisiting for their 2 for 1 cocktails at some point! Lovely, friendly staff. We were here just for drinks and a catch up so didn't sample the food.

The new owners have given the George a new vibe, it's a cool place to go. Service was very friendly and the food is different from the usual pub offerings, but in a good way! Check their menu online

Really excellent pub food. Will definitely go back. The southern fried chicken was out of this word, awsome bit of fish as well. Very friendly staff.
