Our first visit for over 13 years and loved it. We took our 10 year old and his 15 year old cousin. Both thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
If your child is close (just over) to 1.4m it’s worth going to guest services first thing to get them properly measured and get a wrist band so each ride doesn’t have to check them.
Food was ok, and the park was very clean and tidy.
They put a lot of effort into the atmosphere as well as the rides.
Alton Towers is a very creative and expansive place to visit, a place which will make your day brighter and bring you to some unseen adventures. The rides are impressive as well as scary, though entertaining for everybody. The only reason I personally rated this place with 4 stars is because the queue times can often be very long at peak hours.

Great rides, storytelling & friendly staff! Only downside is long queues (ride waiting times up to 90 mins at peak) and this is further impacted by lots of fast trackers (paying queue jumpers). Hotels and Stargazing Pods are comfortable and fun accommodation for families
We had a 2 day pass, visited on a Sunday and Monday. Entrance was well organised and the staff experts at getting you in efficiently. Majority of staff were friendly, kind, knowledgeable and engaging. The park was well kept and clean, as we're all the facilities. The park is well signposted and easy to navigate. The rides were brilliant, when they were working, that is the only niggle we had. Some rides were constantly being closed due to break downs. On average, we waited about 40 mins in queues. We gave in, a bought a fast pass for Wicker Man, as we really wanted to go on it and the queue didn't go below a 90 minute wait all day.
Great theme park with great options for families or big kids. We went as 3 adults and had the best time. Out of season so no big lines at the roller coasters and a great day. Everything is very spaced out and hilly so get food footwear we had a 25k steps day getting around the place. As rollercoaster fans we loved it.
Me and my 13 year old girls had a great time at Alton Towers for the second time this year. We would probably visit more often, but as we live up north, frequent visits, with an annual pass, would not really be a practical option for us.
This time, we stayed at the resort hotel for two nights, with three planned days at the theme park itself.
We bought the Platinum express passes for one of the days, as its always busy during the Scare-Fest period, which it was! Despite several disappointing electrical and mechanical ride failures on each of the days we spent in the park, the staff were brilliant! One of the customer services managers in particular (known to us as Dan) was really helpful, way above and beyond our expectations. Turning a potentially frustrating time into a very positive experience for the three of us.
All in all, from check-in to check-out, all of the staff at the hotel and the park made our stay, a great experience!
We spent a day in the water park 'Splash Landings' which we've visited on many occasions over the years, Awsome as always, lovely and hot inside and the pools outside are fabulous too!
Based on what is to be expected at theme parks (queuing and break downs) it was all we’d hoped for and more! All thanks to the rides that managed to spring back into life, time and time again, the electricians, engineers and technical staff, the ever patient and helpful ground staff, the magical venue during the Scare-Fest period (fifth year visit), and the “Awesome Towers” atmosphere!
We had a great day out yesterday. We bought a silver fast track pass so managed to get on 6 big rides quickly. It was quite expensive to do that but worth it as a one off.
The only thing that let the park down was the lack of signage to direct you to the correct areas for each ride. We actually had to ask a few members of staff where we were going.
Over all a good day had by all and enjoyed lots of rides as well as the stunning gardens.
I came to Alton Towers for the first time 23 years ago and this is still one of my favourite parks ever.
A wonderful selection of rides, and they are putting money constantly into new rides and upgrading the older rides which is great to see.
We went on a weekday in September and it was quiet and the lines manageable. We purchased fast passes but didn’t end up using them, we just used them towards the end of the day so we didn’t have to walk so long in the queues!
We got stuck on one of the rides (Mine Train) but attendants were swiftly by our sides and got us off the ride safely and even offered us very generous compensation! Thank you to all of the team involved with this and the lovely gentleman at customer service.
I would highly recommend anyone to visit Alton Towers as it has high impact thrill rides, lovely gardens to explore and fun for all ages. Even though I don’t have a child I was thoroughly impressed with their children’s rides offerings.
Went in mid week and had a good family time at this nice park. It was crowded, and the average wait time was 50 to 70 min for the main rides. The kids enjoyed most of them. Had a couple of coffee while we're waiting for the kids to finish their riding as there was no parental swapping allowed, which was a bit frustrating for us as we had a baby stroller. It would have been nice to re-enable the swap feature as of other known theme parks and hope to experience it in the future. The smiler was the main roller coaster 🎢 and was worth it, no doubt. The ticket price was reasonable compared to other similar parks. It was a good day overall, and I hope they seriously look into the parental swapping option again.
It was one of the best days this year!!! We went on a public holiday during scarefast(10:00-9:00) it was not bad at all queue times ranged between 20 minutes to 90 minutes. We managed to get on all rides except galactica by 6:00 and we queued up for galactica after 6:10. The queue was over 90 minutes long but that’s because of safety reason.(we didn’t have fast passes for any of the rides at all). staff were kind and let more non-fast pass people through as the queues were longer and finally the food was really expensive so I would recommend bringing a packed lunch or something. Overall it is the best day if you have a family or are just going with friends
