Stopped here after taking our dog on a family walk. I thought the prices were quite high looking through the menu. Β£20 for 4 cups of tea and 2 toasted sandwiches. The tea actually served us 10 cups and the toasted sandwiches were huge and packed with filling so left feeling value for money was had. The staff were very friendly and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend.
This is the first time I have been here but it certainly wonβt be the last . It was full but did not feel crowded. The staff were wonderful so friendly and the meal was excellent. Beautiful surroundings too best place I have been to in years thank you
A beautiful hidden gem of a place. The gardens are gorgeous and so relaxing, perfect place to end a busy couple of days at the theme park.
Absolutely amazing part of the world , we like to go early - beat the busy times , plus the roads leading to it are all single file but it's so worth it when you get there.
Amazing walks in every direction and the ramblers retreat is such a treat after a lovely walk , from tea ,coffee and amazing cakes to full meals in a amazing setting , loads of seating outside , plus inside this place is a gem , a must any time of the year
What a fantastic restaurant to find when you are walking. The service and the food, nice.
I had a bacon and sausage bun so big and nice.
Good job I have to walk back to the car to burn the calories off. Not parked in the car park next to the restaurant.
The Ramblers Retreat a nice place to go to anytime πππππ
Teddy bear π§Έ and Maple π the corgis had breakfast bacon, sausage and egg bun, πππππ nice dog friendly restaurant.
Brilliant stop whilst enjoying the local area or just to visit and enjoy the sights The Ramblers Reyreats grounds have to offer.
We stopped by during a day of walking at a very busy time, the queue moved well, and we were served swiftly.
Delish cake and coffee were thoroughly enjoyed.
Found by accident and a dream place with Alice in Wonderland type vibes. Beautiful gardens, atmospheric Victorian house, friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. Many nooks and crannies to eat their sumptuous meals meals from. Highly recommend their out cakes and salads (Hubby loved his ham, egg and chips and yummy ice-cream) Even dog blankets for the pooches to sit on as well as cushions for their owners' seats. Can't praise this place enough! We'll worth the walk!!!
A gem of a place! The menu caters for everyone and has lots of different choices from light snacks to full meals. I chose a cream tea with a blueberry scone and it was served with lots of butter, jam and whipped cream. It came with a lovely pot of tea with extra hot water for topping the pot up. The staff were so lovely and friendly. I sat inside but the gardens outside were beautiful with a little waterfall. It had lots of seating including little summerhouses to sit in. Absolutely beautiful place. It has a disabled toilet too.
A lovely outdoor garden setting. Food was hot and promptly served. We managed to get a little shelter from the rain but we saw several people wiping the tables and seats down I don t know if we missed it but i just thought it would be good customer service for them to do this or at least provide cloths. Just an idea.
Lovely big garden and good food plus huge range of cakes and bakes. Exactly as the name says itβs perfect for a pit stop during a long walk in the scenic countryside
A lovely little cafe with plenty of seating inside and out. Went for afternoon cake and tea with the family. Staff were friendly and helpful. Cake was fabulous. Would recommend the scones and lemon meringue. The staff even gave my daughter a box to take left overs home. A great place to visit. We will certainly be visiting again
Great setting with lovely gardens, and little sheds, pagodas, etc to sit outside in.
A conservatory provided seating inside if colder.
Food was great, really nice Sunday roast options, and lots of nice cakes and ice cream.
Lovely homemade food, MASSIVE portions! Very beautiful area to walk and visit with the dog. We recently came for the Pumpkin Halloween Night and it was lovely. The staff were very attentive and did great dressing the gardens for Halloween π the hot diggity dog (hotdog) was yummy, followed by the biggest piece of chocolate fudge cake!
The perfect end to a Dimmingsdale walk!
The Ramblers Retreat is absolutely wonderful, from the food to the staff. It shows the decency and friendliness of the staff that today a younger worker, who accidentally overcharged me a couple of quid, came and gave me the money back. This doesnβt happen everywhere!
So many happy memories here. From coffee, scones and toasties - itβs the best end to your Ramble!
First time visiting yesterday and already made plans to return!
Free parking, child friendly!
Seats outside were amazing!
They feed wild birds which js amazing, the Robins get so close too!
The hot chocolates were better than Costa and Starbucks!
We didn't try the food but it looked and smelt amazing!
Very very good!
Got taken here by a local friend, when I visiting the area. A excellent ploughman's, certainly would visit again.
Prices for food and drink are on the high side, however the surroundings make it worth the money.
In the summer when you're able to eat in the gardens you have a beautiful area with a variety of shaded and non shaded areas.
Free water refills are available to help yourself which is ideal if you're planning on doing one of the long walks in the area.
Dogs are also welcome and they have water fountains with bowls close by to give your furry friend a drink. (Dogs are only allowed in the outdoor seating areas). Dog ice creams are also available for the warmer days which our dog absolutely adored.
The food can be expensive but the portion sizes make it good value for money. They have an all day brunch menu as well as the lunch menu covering a wide variety of food options. There are also plenty of drinks to choose from and the coffee here is more than decent. They do however lack a children's menu (none existent). They do have specials which do not appear on the paper menu so it's worth taking a look at the blackboard by the order window before deciding.
Staff are friendly, food is tasty and the surroundings are gorgeous.
Lovely tea room/cafΓ© in the middle of a beautiful walking spot. Fantastic location with beautiful gardens and plenty of outside seating. Lots of choice for food and drink and much of it is homemade. The Lemon Meringue is out of this world! Access via car is a little tricky as the roads leading to it are overgrown single lanes with unsighted corners. Drivers do seem to approach slowly and there are plenty of passing spots along the lanes. Parking is free. Can get busy on sunny days. Dogs welcome.
We walked around Dimmingsdale and then sat outside the Ramblers for lunch π always good food in a beautiful setting with the sun shining and the lovely sounds of a chilled guitarist playing live in the garden. It was like being on holiday in Italy π₯°
The food here is amazing, the sweet menu is a real treat and the savory selection is all excellent quality too, so whatever you are in the mood for. If you are planning a walk through the area, this would be an excellent place to stop for lunch. Dine inside or out, and you can dine outside regardless of the weather too, as they have a beautifully set up garden, with cover in some areas and lovely little weather proof booths :)
OK and a welcome place after a lovely walk with the dogs, but it just didn't seem as great as the last time we visited. The tables hadn't been cleaned and there was food dropped all over the floor outside, which isn't great when there are numerous dogs around and we don't know what they're picking up. There was no cutlery available and service was pretty slow. The ploughman's platter wasn't up to much either - I saw someone else having it last time we visited and it looked scrumptious, but not when I ordered it on this occasion. It was pretty expensive too for what we had. Will probably try somewhere else next time we're in the vicinity.
A brilliant venue if you're stressed. Such a calm outside dining area surrounded by trees and plants. Beautiful sounds of water and wildlife. Food is very healthy and good quality.
