My husband and I had dinner here a few weeks ago on a Friday evening. The pub has such a great cosy atmosphere, lovely accommodating cheerful staff and amazing food. I had steak which was probably one of the most tender and tastiest pieces I have ever had. All the food was delicious and portions are generous. Would highly recommend also for just dropping in for a drink by the cosy fire. We will return again and again.

My husband and I had such a special evening here last night. The pub was buzzing, and couldn’t have been more cosy with the fire burning, gorgeous decor and friendly staff. Food was sensational! We had scallops and wood pigeon to start. Delicious. My husband enjoyed the pork belly and I loved the duck with red cabbage. My highlight was the incredible lavender creme brûlée, I don’t think I’ve ever eaten something so delicious! My husband loved the generous cheese board. The staff couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome. The wine was very reasonable and very good. I loved the gin bar! We will be back again very soon.

Came across this beautiful pub today after visiting the lavender fields. Enjoyed a lovely lunch with Pimms sat on the patio. A real gem. Just wish it was a little closer to home but definitely worth the drive so will come again!

So lucky to have a decent pub with great food right on my doorstep. I've eaten twice here since it reopened and I'm delighted to report it's one of the best pubs locally for food.

Went with my parents yesterday for lunch. The food, sevice and atmosphere were second to none. We had the lamb roast . The meat just melted and as for the rest top class. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff and they were very friendly. We will be going back and soon. Thank you to you all

How can a salad be so tasty! I highly recommend the winter salad and then if you want to make up for your lack of calories in the first course delight in the lavender creme brûlée! Thanks for a wonderful evening. Great hosts and a wonderful atmosphere.

Delicious lunch enjoyed by our party of 24 yesterday. All needs of the group catered for including allergies and lots of good vegetarian choices. Staff and service were fantastic and efficient both on the day and during the booking process. Well worth a visit.

Popped in here for lunch on Tuesday, we had the lamb salad and my husband had the beef salad followed by cheese board shared between us. The meat was cooked perfectly and so tender. Cheerful, friendly service, lovely garden, all perfect. We will definately go back again.

We've been coming here for the last few years and have never had a bad experience. The food is great, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and Farringdon is just gorgeous. This will always be our local pub of choice.

A lovely pub in Chawton. With its own dedicated gluten free menu. I had the mushroom pie, it was really delicious followed by a very tasty gluten free brownie. The service was excellent but I'm only giving 3 stars because staff failed to tell us of the Friday night special that if you buy two mains you can get a bottle of wine for free. We only found out at the end of the meal when seeing it on the back of a card on our table. As we were leaving they did not agree to give us the bottle of wine that was rightfully ours. Quite annoying! Other than that it was a lovely evening out with a friend.

A lovely delicious veggie roast (partner rated high on his beef roast too) Staff were very welcoming and fast! We did head In for 1.3pm booking so it wasn't overly busy! All in all a lovely experience! Thank you.

This place just scrapes into 4/5. Lovely venue, accommodating polite and friendly service, with a good selection of beverages. But for the cost the food could be better. Portion sizes are fine, but pasta wasn’t fresh, sauce slightly greasy and the falafel was dry.

If a manager and her staff can create a wonderful atmosphere in a pub then this is a shining example. Charlotte and her team are so welcoming, friendly and convivial that this permeates the whole venue. It results in other customers being friendly and relaxed, happy to chat or pass the time of day. Just a lovely experience! Add in beautiful surroundings, great food, a lovely outdoor area, dog friendly and you have all boxes ticked. A real find!

A nice pub with a pleasant beer garden. The lady at the bar was very warm and friendly. Seemed like a lot of locals here which is always a good sign. It's nice inside but not traditional enough for us so visit here if you prefer a more modern twist. We didn't eat here but the smells from the kitchen were enticing.

Hadn’t visited the r&c for a few months but this was excellent all round. We went for Sunday lunch and the food and service was very good. Trio of roasts was very tasty as was the brownie. Fish and chips were great apparently too. Staff were also great with our little one and the addition of the garden games for kids is a great idea. Seems like it’s back on top form again!

We’ve just had a wonderful family meal at The Rose and Crown. There were 13 of us for a big anniversary meal and we couldn’t have asked for more. The food was fantastic and service perfect. Big thank you to Charlotte who was absolutely fantastic, a huge credit to the pub. Must also mention how great the pub is for gluten free food.

Went here with friends as a half way travelling distance, had been recommended and wasn't disappointed. Lovely village pub with a fairly large gravelled car park but as a popular pub could get full quickly, there is a bit of road parking within the village. Small bar/sitting area with a roaring open fire. The rest is tables for the restaurant. Lovely cosy atmosphere. Very good selection of drinks. The managers are very friendly and chatty. Good selection of food on the menu at sensible prices, generous portions. Large outdoor seating area. Booking is highly recommended. Can't wait to return.

Wonderful local pub - quite hidden down some very narrow roads but what a treat when you get there. Lovely open garden and indoor dining space. Had a Sunday lunch with parents - excellent friendly service and wonderful food.

Beautiful location, and decor. Very nice staff. The pub is also dog friendly. I had a wonderful meal there at the table overlooking the garden. The food is very good, from starters to puddings. I was drinking wine so I can't say much about beer selection, just that my companions were happy with their choices. It's best to book in advance.
