This pub is a real find. Bruce and Chris were lovely hosts, and (their son)? The lads who were doing the music. No food served here, but don't let that put you off... The gardens are so lovely and to have a drink on the terrace around early evening is a must. Great wine too, we can recommend the Pinot Grigio! Also we left an item of clothing behind and Bruce kindly offered to send it on to our home address. Really thoughtful and caring folk. We just wished we could have spent more time there. I'd love to go back in the winter when the fire is on and experience the ambience from the inside.

Very pleasant little pub near where we were staying. We popped in a couple of times and had a very good Sunday lunch. Bruce and Chris are laid back but friendly hosts - definitely worth a visit and there is music on some evenings.

Stopped in for a quick pint. A very warm welcome and excellent service! Great outdoor area and lots of seating for a warm sprint day. Lager shandy hit the spot. Will return!

Saturday afternoon, we sat outside and just had a drink, so not the best visit to post a review. The beer was good. I should imagine with live music playing it would be better.

As visitors to the area this was a great experience - a simple pub full of friendly locals. Really feels like your being invited into the landlords front room. Loved the interior with loads of local art.

Popped in for a nightcap on our last night away. Was met with Chris & Bruce in the bar around the fireplace. We were welcomed to join them, although was unsure if it was a private function. We delved deep in conversation from lady Godiva to a field heritage and had a really nice time with them, albeit just the four of us. Asked for a final drink and was informed that they closed 30mins prior, despite having a full bottle of white on their table. Left swiftly after.

What a lovely pub with an eclectic range of people. The owners are lovely and so welcoming they make you feel part of the family. Definitely recommend a pint or two here, a perfect way to end a day of walking or just visiting.

Lovely place to visit with locally sourced food and drink. Parking available and a great place to start / end walks to nearby Mildale, Dovedale, Iilam, Manifold Valley and Thor’s Cave. Dog friendly, family run, traditional pub with stunning views on its doorstep.

Lovely place in the middle of nowhere. Peaceful surroundings, the landlord is a very pleasant chap. Even the journey to this pub is a pleasant, pleasurable run out. A good stop off whilst exploring the southern part of the Peak District. The surrounding villages and hamlets are picturesque. All in all great place for a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle.

Absolutely lovely tapas! Not at all what I expected from a local out of village pub, but the food was really interesting and delicious! Lovely local vibes, really great amazing food worth a visit if you can book in for food!

Fabulous place to grab a bite to eat and a pint of beer. Freehouse pub on the road to Milldale. Well worth the walk back from the Dove Dale walk. Traditional country style pub with a emphasis of conversation and live music events. Has parking but do note, it's closed on Wednesdays. I had the pasta lunch, which was delicious and Mrs P had the 4 chilli meal.

One of my absolute favourite places. Stunning location, gorgeous and soul filling food. The terrace with fire pits and often live music is a great way to spend an evening. Inside is also cosy and warm so perfect for both a summers day and a cold winter.

We ate on a Tuesday evening. Had the tapas menu. I have to say that the food is fabulous. The cook certainly likes big flavours. We were the only diners that evening and the owners were a bit quiet which meant there was a flat atmosphere until 4 cyclists turned up and added some life to the place. However, I would go back for the food, which was worth the trip.
