I dined in at The George twice this summer - once soon after the indoor restrictions were lifted and then a little later in July.
The first time we had a lighter lunch with a selection of wonderful small plates, some champagne and a gorgeous dessert wine.

Had an amazing meal last Thursday. We had the 9 course taster menu. The food was delicious with the attention to detail and flavour. The service was very good with an explanation of what we were going to eat and advice what to drink with the menu.

I'm not a fan of tasting menus but that at The George, last night, was outstanding. (I feel that restaurants should always offer an a la carte alternative.) All of the dishes were well conceived (I forgive the pumpkin in one of the deserts that we both felt was not ideal) and excellently prepared. T

A nice pub with a very small menu but top quality food. The menu is based on the local produce that is available. The ambience is unique as well. We took a detour to visit this place and was worth it.

An incredible gastronomic experience.... charming heritage building in idyllic village, seamless yet friendly service and outstanding food. I can't recommend The George highly enough. The fish and lobster were just outstanding and a real surprise in the Peak District.
