Excellent freshly cooked fish and chips. A group of 14 of us ate in the restaurant following a hard day’s walk. All the food was very good with the exception of one of the group who didn’t enjoy their vegetarian burger. The staff were very attentive and cheerful. Would certainly go there again when we are in the area.
Fantastic food and amazing service from a young lady I believe called Beth with red hair she went the extra mile to make everything perfect. All the staff were hard working during a busy period. A credit to you.
Carlo’s Artisan Gelato was absolutely amazing. I got the fish and chips (cod). I was blown away at the portion size at 18”. The ice cream was incredible as well. This is a MUST for anyone visiting Alnwick.
I'm always wary of 'award winning' shops but if ever a shop deserved this accolade it's Carlo's. THE best fish and chips. The haddock was sweet and cooked to order. The batter thin and perfectly crisp. The chips were chunky delights and the peas looked and tasted like peas not luminous chemicals. Good prices too. Under 20quid for two fish, a huge 'medium' chips and a tub of peas.
We were in Alnwick on a day out and really wanted fish and chips ...found Carlo's online and went there by recommendation. Absolutely fantastic in quality and quantity....superb in every way. Fish batter was crispy and tasty...not grease-laden. You must try it.
A long wait with a big queue on a Friday but worth it. Delicious fish, batter and chips, not soggy at all. Probably the best chips I've ever had, not quite the best fish, but it's up there. We ordered (to takeaway) one large chips that was enough for the three of us, a large pot of mushy peas, 2 haddock and 1 cod, all excellent and very large portions, we wish we'd shared one portion of haddock it was so big! The woman serving us was so friendly and helpful, an absolute star taking so many orders too.
We sat in and ordered line caught haddock and a single portion of chips as we were advised the chip portions were quite large. Amazing fish. Large, thick, and perfectly cooked with a crispy light batter that did not overwhelm the fish. Huge portion of excellent chips. The only negative is that fish and chips from anywhere else will now be disappointing.

We searched the internet for a fish and chip shop in Alnwick and Carlos was at the top, we read the first review, "best fish and chips ever", and we agree, fish, chips and peas all excellent, massive portions, the fish fit the plate it came on, large. All staff very friendly and efficient, great service.
Just had the best fish and chips to take away for a very long time. I can only remember one other as good in the last15 years. That was Whitehead's of Hornsea.
Carlo's of Alnwick. Impeccable quality and taste. Fresher fish with a clean taste. No lingering aftertaste either.
