We'd originally gone to another pub down the road for a Sunday roast after visiting Alnwick castle and gardens...the 1st weren't serving lunch but asked for recommendations and they mentioned the Black Swan. I'm so pleased they weren't serving as we'd have missed out on this wonderful place. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was well cooked, very tasty and beautifully presented. The place itself is very deceiving from the outside...once you're inside it's like a Tardis. It's got a great atmosphere and manages to combine country village with contemporary style. Really couldn't fault the place and will definitely be back and recommend to friends

While visiting Alnwick we were looking for a dog friendly pub and we certainly found one, Teddy our 5 month old puppy was made so welcome and he certainly loved the treats he was given. The staff were friendly and very helpful nothing was too much trouble The food we had was absolutely beautiful very well presented and full of flavour I would highly recommend the black swan to anyone visiting Alnwick.

The Black Swan is a very friendly sociable Hotel/Pub with a very good menu and a Gin Club on Tuesday. Reasonable prices and good service. Small well equipped rooms on the third floor. Staff are very keen to please with breakfast well cooked and served. This is situated in a central place in the lovely town of Alnwick with Barter Books nearby where you can browse, read drink coffee and eat cake.

Just happened by in whilst visiting Alnwick for the day. Wow that food was incredible, great value for money, such good portion sizes and super tasty. The lady who served us was so passionate and friendly, a definite asset to your pub. We will definitely be back in the future

Lovely. When we went in we were amazed it is so deceiving from the front. Had to book a table as it is so busy. The meal came with in 10 minutes, huge and piping hot. The beer is excellent and the staff can't do enough for you. Will we be coming back ? Definately.

Visited The Black Swan on New Years Eve with my parents for Sunday lunch, I have to say this has got to be one of the best we have had. Food is divine home cooked and presentation is fabulous. The girls are really lovely too which goes a long way as customer service was outstanding too. Often have a little run up the coast and will be visiting again to try something different.

Just had a lovely 2 nice stay at the Black Swan whilst in Alnwick for two of my friend's wedding. Had an evening meal on Friday and the food was lovely breakfasts were spot on. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Lovely atmosphere. And as for the gin. Well what can I say but spoilt for choice. Fab stay around. Just one question - who makes the rhubarb gin? And also the pink grapefruit?

The black pudding and chorizo was amazing- well cooked and the apple chutney with baby spinach the perfect accompaniment. We all went for the lamb shank with sweet potato smash, buttered cabbage and mint gravy. All of us loved the main course, the chef certainly does a fantastic job and we complimented the staff and chef and left a well deserved tip and very satisfied. Thank you Black Swan - highly recommended

We called in here for lunch on a Sunday with the kids and luckily got one of the last tables. The service and food were excellent with lots of options for kids and the roast veg were delicious. Only downside was our table wasn’t clean when we were seated but that could be because they were busy. Otherwise it was all excellent

A walk down the street in lovely Alnwick. Decided to give the Black Swan a go. 3 fish and chips ordered, really tasty and the fish a large portion. Helpful service. We were very luck as the kitchen closed to orders not long after we ordered. A continuous stream of hopeful diners redirected elsewhere.

We stumbled across this place by accident, we went to go to a place a few doors down which was fully booked when we landed so called in here instead. I'm so pleased we did. The food was delicious and fresh. I ordered the burger, it was amazing. Crispy bacon, homemade burger, brioche bun. It was soooo tasty and the burger itself was juicy not greasy. My partner ordered flat iron steak. Again this was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Both came with fries. They were fresh, with just the right amount of crisp. It cos us £36 for the 2 meals a pint of larger and a pint of pespi max. Which was a steak for the standard and quality of the food we received. Would definitely go back and definitely recommend giving it a go.

Best fish and chips I’ve had for ages! Reminded me of the bygone age when you actually got fish in your battered fish. good quality red wine served at the right temperature. Caring staff. We will be back.

I ate in The Black Swan yesterday. I had the halloumi fries to start and they were delicious. The only reason I've given a four and not 5 stars is because I had pizza for my main and the dough was a bit thick and bready for my taste, I prefer this and crisp. Toppings on the pizza were all nice though

After hearing good reviews about the place a few doors down I was gutted I couldn't get a seat there so had to go to the black swan. It's was empty apart from the bar files so wasn't expecting much. It's was top notch 👌 the flank steak I had was tremendous

Nice pub. Has an “Olde worlde” feel about. More room inside than the front suggests as it goes right back. Food was excellent. We just had a light lunch in the form of a sandwich but I have to say it was one of the best ham sandwiches i’ve had. Unfortunately, only 4 stars due to the terrible coffee as, in contrast to the food, it was awful! Being weak, bitter and boiling hot. But, I guess if you want decent coffee, go to a coffeehouse!! Having said that I would definitely go again. I’d just have a beer instead!!
