Love it! Never been in yet have lived around alnwick most of my life. Had no idea this place existed let alone had a cool downstairs type nook! Loved going along the narrow passage and down the old narrow stairwell. An actual hidden gem! Its small but thats the charm of this place. Guessing old root cellar? Brilliant! Cosy, dimly lit, quaint little hide away from the outside world. The staff were lovely and food (which was fab btw) and drinks promply served. The place was packed and more kept coming!

Had my second visit yesterday and can't recommend the place and staff enough, we were with two children and the staff was so good with them, finding out what they wanted to eat and drink and nothing was too much trouble. Our meals were delicious and the portions were huge.

Another little gem of a place in Alnwick, great atmosphere, fantastic staff and outstanding food served up. Cheese platter and Broth that was full of barley 10/10. As Arnie once said..... I'll be back..... well actually, we will both be back.....

We are here today as a party of four with a dog. We booked and I would highly recommend booking for the lunch period. Once you get downstairs it’s easy to see why it’s so popular as staff are so very friendly and the food is absolutely brilliant. We had a mix of jacket potatoes, club sandwich, soup and scone and a Grannies afternoon tea with coffees and tea . It was stunning both in presentation, service and taste. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will definitely return - simply stunning.

Had one panini, and three homemade quiches (ham and Stilton and the cheese and pesto) and it was exquisite! Having the lovely side salad was a beautiful touch that we all really enjoyed, especially with the panini ( its not just a piece of bread in the middle of a plate ). Really loved our lunch! We had the tasty cheese scone earlier in the week and that was just the taster we needed to know that the food will be excellent. Really great and friendly service, very attentive to your needs and dietary needs. Coffee were ok, but I’m a bit fussy so I would say not quite barista flat white that I like, but the rest of our group enjoyed theirs so I guess it’s different taste as I used to work as a barista myself I can be particular on that!

This café is a wonderful place to enjoy delicious sandwiches in a friendly and cozy setting. You’ll love the warm atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. What sets this café apart is its commitment to using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients in every sandwich they prepare. It’s a delightful experience that not only satisfies your taste buds but also supports local producers.

We ate downstairs. Very cozy and the ambiance was enhance with vintage photos and antique items. The food (jacket potato + an Italian mix of olives, feta in a cream sauce-YUMMY!) was delivered very hot and in huge quantity. Can't go wrong here. Homemade meals that will impress. Also take time to browse there store items. You will find it hard to resist not walking out with some items to savor later. Great food, still ! Baked potato cooked to perfection with a corn-beef hash topping. Just got and great.

There's a small tea room near my home town that does the best coronation chicken anywhere, bur, after having coronation chicken sandwich at Grannie's I have changed my mind. Fantastic food, cakes and awesome staff, definitely coming here again.

Had a very nice seat in the front and this fantastic venue! The place was so busy with people coming for lunch and the choices sounded delicious! Takes American Express. Didn’t go downstairs to the tea rooms but plenty of space from what I could tell. Great venue.

When we dropped in to Grannies Tea Room and Delicatessen it was queueing out of the door and unfortunately had no free tables. We decided to book a table for later in the day and were so glad that we did! The old fashioned basement tea room with its fireplace and flagstone flooring is small but perfectly formed. Friendly staff, good selection on the menu, and so many nice cakes was worth the wait.

What a brilliant little find in Alnwick. Looking around for somewhere that wasn't a big chain and came across Grannies. They have a lovely little deli upstairs and hidden down stairs is a quite delightful cafe. The staff were so friendly and helpful and we opted for the soup and sandwich option, both were really tasty and as you can see they weren't getting much more soup in that bowl. I would highly recommend and will return next time we are up that way.

Stopped off at Grannies based on the already excellent reviews and wasn't disappointed. We had lovely homemade sandwiches with locally sourced produce. A pot of tea for 2. Lovely atmosphere and not crowded when we visited. Tea room is downstairs and shop upstairs sells local cheeses and produce. Smells amazing when you enter the shop. Friendly service and good value.
