Picante Café is outstanding! The Café looks small from outside but when you walk in it's very large. It's still cosy and I like a private table in a corner & there's usually a choice.
EVERYTHING is absolutely spotless & clean - there's NO sticky tables here!
The family who own it are delightful & it was a pleasure to meet them & chat with them. The young man who serves us is their son and he is extremely polite and very professional. Thank you Antoine. I hope I remembered your name correctly. My Carer's not here so I can't ask him! I'll be back to correct it if I've got it wrong.
The coffee is delicious. The food is cooked to perfection! We will be returning frequently. I don't cook so my Carer makes sure I go out to eat regularly. It's incredible to find such a perfect place for me to have a cooked meal. Delicious!

Table service available from friendly, affable staff. Restaurant was spacious and clean. The food was well presented, cooked properly and tasted fine.
What would have made it better would have been more locally produced items, some haggis and locally made sausages.
Very clean and the family were pleasant. Wasn't a big choice of cakes as we were there for coffee and cake. But what we had was nice
Served by a lovely young lassie .Food was really tasty and my wife actually ate all her omelette as it was so good and my mac and cheese 🧀 was really hot but so yum yum , could have eaten two lots 😋 😊 in one sitting 😋 .

Update: I've now been a regular weekly visitor for three years and I still think of each visit as a once-a-week treat. My father and I always look forward to the excellent breakfast, prepared exactly as we like it by the cook. We visit different local cafes six days a week, Picante is definitely our favourite.
The layout of this cafe is open and easily accessible for anyone with a wheelchair, a rare element in the surrounding area. The cafe is very clean and bright and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. From five or six visits I have yet to find fault with the food on offer, everything has been just as I requested.
There is no phone signal on the EE network inside but the owners do provide free WiFi. I can definitely recommend this cafe, particularly for a good old fashioned breakfast.

Smart, Friendly waiting staff. Well laid out seating spaces. Decent, varied Menu with Hot & Cold drinks. Not long to wait for lunch. Thoroughly enjoyed. Happy to recommend 🤗

Excellent tasty food with very friendly staff. Panini comes with salad and delicious homemade coleslaw. Coffee is best in town. Excellent place for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Had take out, lovely friendly person serving when I picked up. Great tuna salad, grandson still says, best milkshake EVER!

The newer light and airy decor did much to introduce some ambience to what is essentially a café. The coffee is good, the service passable when it isn't busy and the food better than average. It is unpretentious and where the locals go. Monica and staff are not only welcoming, but also efficient and unvaryingly cordial. Having frequented the establishment since its inception, I can confidently say that it has improved and I highly recommend both for service and quality.

Recommend this café if you like a lunch or a catch up and a coffee with family and friends. Lovely staff, always friendly and upbeat. Neat looking interior with fancy portraits and there is a bit in the back if you prefer to sit outside. We'll presented externally too and often you can see the staff outside shouting over a friendly hello. Food is good too. The bacon rolls are fab. Also offers delivery too.
