We popped in here for lunch. Food was good, service was good. First time here. Unfortunately the toilets were not brilliant, could do with improvement. We decided to walk around the Lake afterwards, but wasn't allowed, fishermen only with permits. All in all a good experience 👍
So a lovly little find amazing food, fab views over the lake good parking nothing negative to say about this little cafe , but the fishing and Anglian park wich is were it is situated is def all negative , 3 different situation 3 different old jobs worth men , not all concerning us , clearly retired old gits got nothing better to do is moan about something, feels like they don't like cafe customers and want to tell everyone off for stepping in the wrong direction any way was a lovly few hours appart from that !
I agree with the reviews which say that this place is a hidden gem. It’s in a lovely peaceful setting overlooking the lake and there is plenty of free parking.
The staff have always been friendly and welcoming whenever we’ve been, and even though we don’t usually book as we pop in on our lunch breaks, they are able to find us a table. There is always a nice welcome and the service is good.
The menu is varied and has lots of vegetarian options and the cake is always amazing!
Great little hidden gem.
Had the cooked breakfast and a coffee for around £16. Fantastic value for the quality of food, no complaints at all.
Bought a slice of the Victoria sponge to take away for later and it too was lovely.
Will be back!
The approach road is very poor quality, wouldn't recommend for lower cars (found out the hard way!)
An unusual location so good if you fancy somewhere different, plenty of parking. Food was good, service was pleasant and helpful. Had an enjoyable large family breakfast - 10 of us. Probably worthwhile booking as it got busy later causing delays in the kitchen, but that's more a victim of its popularity.
A delightful location for a snack, lunch, or even just coffee and cake. At the head of a fishing lake. Views of fisherfolk, herons, ducks and their cygnets. Separate tables, of different sizes, well spaced. Tables and chairs also available outside for al fresco dining.
Orders to be placed at the counter, which are then brought to your table.
Only downside is the pothole ridden access road, leading to the free parking
area.
Fantastic place for a weekend morning breakfast or brunch. Great full English. Lots of space. Friendly and helpful.
Our first time here and we were instantly made to feel welcome. Very friendly staff, great service and lunch was delicious! Hubby ordered Bacon Brie & Cranberry Pannini with a side order of thick cut chips. I had Fish Finger Sandwich and shared his chips 😜 We will definitely return again. Thank you all so much 😊
Stopped by for Brunch today. Was very yummy and a lovely setting.
Not for visitors... no dogs allowed!
Nice place, with a lovely view. Get there before 2pm if you want lunch menu, but the cake was yummy. Very friendly folks.
You can't go for a walk around the lake. Shame.
A great hidden gem. Service with a smile and great food. Lovely setting on the lake as well.
Little hidden gem, friendly staff, great food, and decently priced. Nicely spaced out tables and good outdoor seating.
A fantastic find only downside you can't get there from the canal.
Road to the cafe is full of potholes when we went, so be careful.
Food and service great. Such a brilliant place to sit and watch the water, ducks and the heron.
This is a delightful cafe hidden away in a beautiful location looking out over a fishing lake. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the food is good. Lovely place to spend with friends or family with coffee or a meal. The only thing that keeps it down is the driveway which is pothole galore, off this was rectified this place would almost be perfect.
You wouldn't know that such a decent place was hidden down a decrepit old lane in the middle of an army base (kinda). Seriously - get that lane's surface fixed! It's like having a really bad massage.
I came here for a birthday party with about 30 others. We had booked afternoon tea and tables were laid out nicely for us. My vegan wife and I were well looked after, including tonnes of hummus and some tomato-avo sarnies. The scones were quite small and we could have done with more but the effort was appreciated all the same.
The jam was forgotten until we asked although to be honest it was quite funny and we were still eating savoury stuff anyway. Service was otherwise attentive and they were a friendly bunch.
There's plenty of parking here and there's a lovely (if bleak) view across the lake. Watch out for chickens and geese. Also - and please don't support it! - there's a fishing/gun shop next to the cafe.
Great place for Breakfast or Lunch.
Such good food & beautiful spot to sit & eat. Staff are very helpful & friendly. Will be going back soon
There were 15 of us this morning. We arrived to friendly staff and were shown to our seats. The drinks arrived followed shortly by the food, having pre-ordered due to our large number. Food was fantastic. It was a shame it was raining as it was clear we would have been treated to a relaxing view of the lake.
