We went to the Suffolk on a Friday night. The meal was very good and I had a great glass of red wine whose name I forget. I had the 1/2 Lobster which was cooked perfectly, taken out of its shell (including a claw) and shared some starters including local oysters which were lovely and snails. Snails were a little disappointing for me as I would have preferred more seasoning and more garlic, but still good. I would recommend it and would definitely go again if I got the chance.

Very impressed with first visit here last night. Lovely seafood dishes. My main course of Turbot with smoked mussel butter was a delight. Also great to go out for dinner on a Sunday evening and not have the limited choice one usually gets when out for dinner on Sunday evenings. The seating is comfortable and the ambiance and decor promotes a lovely seaside feel. Nice helpful staff too. A walk on the beach on a warm evening afterwards was an added bonus. Would suggest best to book in advance, seems very popular and most walk ins could not get a table.

Really excellent restaurant. We sat terrace and drank rose, with the wonderful seaweed poppadoms, watching the sun set, and listening to the final seagull chorus of the day - idillic ! The service was excellent, all the staff were super friendly, especially Irina and Andrea. We had snails and lobster - delicious. The bedroom was so tastefully decorated - really beautiful. Comfortable bed, and a great bathroom with a huge bath. Lovely eco-friendly soaps and conditioners. The best was yet to come......we then had an historic breakfast ! Great sausages, amazing black pudding, excellent bacon, sourdough toast, and thick chunky marmelade - perfect. Service at breakfast by the lovely Rita. This was such a lovely week-end away -0 perfect in every respect - we'll be back !

The Perfect Lobster A few years ago I read ‘The Offing’ by Benjamin Myers. One evening the protagonist is introduced to lobster; freshly caught, steamed and served with fresh garlic butter and bread. I am not much of a fan of lobster but since I read that passage I have chased that moment in the book - the perfect lobster moment. Too many lobsters and too much disappointment confirmed my lukewarm acceptance of lobster until I visited The Suffolk . I am now a complete lobster convert and the memory of the taste of it brings tears to my eyes - seriously. Absolute heaven on a plate. Thank you to the chef for giving me a food experience I will never forget.

Excellent food and outstanding service. A visit to The Suffolk in Aldeburgh is essential. From the moment we walked in, we felt very welcome and relaxed. The staff were incredible, very attentive but not in an overbearing way. Nothing was too much trouble. Lunch was delicious using local produce - we opted for the Scallops and beetroot tartare to start followed by the Dover Sole and Lobster. This restaurant is also incredibly child and dog friendly. My 3 year old chose cod goujons and chips and cleaned her plate. Also worth a note is the great selection of drinks - alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The shirley temple was a big hit as was the light and buttery chablis. Make sure you enjoy a drink on the terrace. We will definitely be back soon.

Great food. Excellent fish dishes and the general atmosphere is great. The wine list needs attention. Lacks diversity and depth – Maybe offer a BYO+ corkage option

Here for the restaurant. Plaice was lovely and a good sharing option. Waiter admitted he had never filleted a plaice before. he did his best. But. Lobster small but perfect. Recommend a whole the half would not be enough. Wine waiter got mixed up and poured wrong sweeter wine into my nicer dry wine. Was awful. But replaced it with some other large glass of wine. Overall good and would return. But choose wisely. Staff nice but very hectic. Slow down. You move too fast. Expensive but probably best in Aldeburgh for fish.

We decided to have our 24th anniversary here and we were not disappointed! Every morsel was delicious and spaced out perfectly so we weren't overwhelmed with too much at one time. The only downfall is we were not given the specials and at dessert time we were sad to find out it wasn't a baked cheesecake so we did not order that. This is by far the best restaurant in Aldeburgh! Thank you George for our champagne!

We had a celebration dinner for 6, we all agreed the food and service were first class. The staff are young enthusiastic but above all friendly and efficient. They made the evening very special. The quality of the food and cooking are excellent. We would all highly recommend “The Suffolk” we will definitely go again.

A brilliant spot, so glad to have it in Aldeburgh. The staff are wonderful, friendly, relaxed and attentive. The food is stunning, whether it's in the restaurant for a formal but relaxed meal or in the bar area with a perfectly made cocktail and the INCREDIBLE bar snacks. We can't stop coming back.. oh and dog friendly through out!

Wasn't sure what to expect as a mixed bag of reviews. The service by Rita was exemplary she knew when to come to the table and when to stay away a gift that waiting staff in this country don't often get. The food I had read in reviews was expensive this is absolutely not the case. £24 for half a lobster or £18 for a vegetarian option of that quality is very reasonably priced. The deserts were amazing, not bought in, and created with flair. My only gripe, which stopped it getting a five star review, was the price of the wines. A very well chosen and good quality list but a lot of them at a 300% mark up which is the reason everyone is saying it's an expensive restaurant. I read the review about someone being told how much corkage was then being charged double. My advice is, unless you are an Aldeburgh ya-ya and money is no object, choose your wine wisely and you will without doubt have the best dining experience in the town.

We dined here in the evening. The staff are professional, welcoming and have a sound knowledge of the menu. Our table was well presented and the seating comfortable. The decor is tasteful and of good quality. We were given the menu and a choice of daily specials. We shared a half dozen escargot that were most delicious in garlic and herb butter. There is good quality complimentary bread and butter provided too. My partner had the halibut with caviar on a bed of leeks for a main course which was perfectly cooked with a lovely texture and flavour. We also had a side dish of griddled half cabbage which was fabulous. The halibut was so fresh and a good size fillet. I had the hake special which was on a garlic veloute with wild garlic leaves draped across it. This dish was superb too and again very fresh and substantial in size. Very reasonably priced at £20 too. There is a very good wine list to accompliment the dishes. Our main waiter was attentive but not intrusive and gave us time to enjoy our meal and wine at leisure. He was knowledgeable and personable and obviously wants to go far in the catering/hospitality industry which we think he will. This restaurant is perfect for a romantic meal or a business one. We went here on our final night of a 3 night trip to Aldeburgh and would return just to dine here again.
