It was the first time my husband and I had been to Oxfordshire and having spent the day at Blenhiem Palace and staying at a local hotel we needed a lovely meal to finish the day off.
Discovering the Red Lion, a lovely, quaint pub we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
The staff where very welcoming, and friendly.
The service was brilliant, the food was very yummy especially dessert, and once finished we both had very full tummies........and left feeling very happy.
I have visited the Red Lion several times, but only eaten here twice. I will be making many more visits to eat. The food is excellent and the service is very good, with lovely staff on hand to make it a good dining experience. Definitely the place to go for any kind of celebration or just a lunch.
Amazing 3 course meal well done chef!! Food was fresh and staff are very friendly .. Four happy ladies Will definitely be coming back 😊
Had Xmas dinner yesterday and it was awesome. Great food, good beer and all served in a timely manner.
Had a lovely lunch today. They were very accommodating as we had the mixed fish grill and asked for dressing on the side, also we asked for fruit salad not on the main menu but on the kids. They sorted it for us as we are being good so it was all on our Slimming World plan. Thank you very much.
The room are lovely and cosy food is fantastic excellent choice on the menu
Lovely 1 night stay, very friendly and welcoming. Room was nice and comfy, lots of history in the place, breakfast was nice and set us up for the day.
Fantastic meal tonight for a belated Valentine's Day, great food and brilliant service, thank you very much ..... So glad I entered the competition ❤️ have been here many times over the years and will definitely be back !! ... can't recommend highly enough
My third stay over at the Red Lion. Always a friendly and efficient welcome. Comfy charming rooms. All areas have loads of character. Evening meal, Delish! Will be back.

Great place to stay steeped in history but all mod facilities we loved it
Staff are lovely and accommodation full of character. I stay for business and have already rebooked
Hospitality is amazing, friendly staff and the best food, can't ask for more when staying away
Had such a lovely stay here. Friendly, comfy and food lovely. Wished we could have stayed longer. Thanks
Stayed here for two nights as going to a wedding. Lovely friendly hotel room and bathroom excellent. Food in the restaurant was well presented and everything perfectly cooked. Breakfast menu also excellent lots to choose from. Staff friendly and willing to go the extra mile to make sure guests were looked after.
Would definitely stay again and recommend to family and friends
We had stayed here before and, after having had a look at prices in and around Banbury, we decided that they did not compare with The Red Lion. So, we chose The Red Lion again and stayed for one night in a room that was next to the main road, however, the window's double glazing was excellent and we did not notice any road noise from this very busy road. The room was very well appointed, the bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was very pleasant. We ate in the pub for our evening meal and thoroughly enjoyed it and were very surprised at the very reasonable prices. The whole pub is very clean, and the staff are efficient and friendly. The car park at the back of the pub is a bonus. We would highly recommend staying here to anyone!
We used the restaurant at the Red Lion in Adderbury for a celebration of my son's 30th birthday. Everything was just perfect. The staff were kind and efficient, the menu was varied and lived up to the promise of the dish descriptions. Food came to us at just the right intervals. Thank you for making the day special.
Came for a late lunch with two friends. The pub itself is really cute & rustic. Lucy, a lovely barmaid, was so knowledgeable about the history of the 400 year old pub & told us about an old landlord who was murdered in the pub and still resides in the cellar. The food was gorgeous & prices were very reasonable. Thank you :-)
Stayed here as I was doing the race for life in Oxford. Lovely pub in a lovely village. Evening meal was excellent as was breakfast. Easy journey down to the park and ride into Oxford. Will definitely stay again next time I'm in the area.
Each time we go out for dinner as a family, my girls always want to go to the Red Lion. They love the kids menu, to be able to choose which sides they want with their meals and the colouring!!
We love the family feel especially as my girls are young.
Been here for a few meals and breakfast. Havnt been disappointed. Food is very nice and for reasonable prices! Service is very good and the staff are really friendly!
I often pop in with my son for a little bit of dinner after school.
The staff are always great with him, give him colouring and know just what he wants (the same each time!).
The steak sandwich is a must try!
Did not stay in the hotel. Had lunch on weekend. Great atmosphere, excellent service and tasty food. Mid-range prices. I'd go again.
Exceptional service, great food, clean and comfortable, very expensive room rate
Liked · The staff were exceptionally helpful - a special mention for Daniel, who was keen to meet all our needs.
The hotel is in a good location for daily travel to Cropredy festival.
The room was clean and comfortable.
Parking was easy and close to the entrance.
Breakfast was extremely good, with a continental buffet plus a wide choice of cooked breakfast for both veggies and meaties.
The two lunches we had were very good.
Disliked · It was a heavy slog carrying cases to our rooms (12 & 14). Up and down several staircases and corridors. There probably isn't room to instal a lift, but perhaps the fire door closer to the rooms could be adapted?
The shower was weak and took ages to warm up.
The free WiFi (The Cloud) was too unreliable to be of any use in the room.
£180 per night is a lot of money for an average sized room.
