We've found The Boat Inn along our way to Caingorm National Park and were lucky enough to catch the last free room. From the first second we've felt very welcome. The stuff is very courteous and attentive. The food is amazing (we've had breakfast and dinner) and they even offer gluten free options. The room is very cosy and decorated beautifully. Oh, and if you long for a great shower after a long day, this is the place! The bathroom leaves you in awe. We really loved this place and would come back any time.
Having been here many times over the years for dinner, we decided to book into a room for the night. Our room had a river view, was super clean, tastefully decorated and had a comfy bed.
The dinner, as always, was first class. We both opted for fish and chips - the regular size was very generous. Bar prices very reasonable, as was the wine. It was lovely being able to both have a glass of wine with our dinner!
The breakfast was included in the room rate and was excellent.
Overall, I'd say a very reasonably priced stay, pleasant surroundings, fantastic view and very attentive staff. We will return!!
Friendly staff, great beer & wine, gluten free menu excellent but the Steak&Ale pie is not a pie its meat in a dish with a slabe of puff pastry resting on top surely the meat should be in it to make it a pie!!!
Thank you for fitting us in without a booking on Saturday Eileen. Great buzz in the place as usual, restaurant looks fab! Food and service simply first class again, we will be back again! Great place to eat, would highly recommend. Thank you!
Just spent 2 nights here & the room was fabulous. View out to river Dee, very friendly staff, amazingly fresh prepared food. Bed was so comfortable, linen & towels were spotless & complimented the decor nicely. Tea, coffee, kettle, water & biscuits in room. TV, hairdryer included. Complimentary toiletries too. Thank you for making me so welcome
Went to the Boat inn today for a late lunch with my auntie. Can honestly say that’s the best fish and chips I have ever had in my life!!! The staff were very friendly and welcoming and service was outstanding. Can’t wait till the next time. Thank you so much
What a great place! That sums it up !
Comfortable rooms, superb food, brilliant staff and a beautiful location 👍🏻
Well worth value room.food .view and service and breakfast was on the mark
Made welcome, dog was allowed in bar with us for bar supper, doggy treats and water available for dogs, will certainly be back
Visited for mid week lunch and had a friendly welcome and great food. We enjoyed the shed burger and the chicken burger and the vegetable curry. Dessert was a large sticky toffee pudding and the chocolate moose which was enough for 2 to share and very rich and creamy. Great choice of beer too.
The waiters were all very jolly and friendly a the pub was very welcoming of dogs visiting, even having a blanket for them to lie on and a big tin of dog biscuits.
Seating was comfortable and the scenery is just lovely with a nice river walk to walk off our lunch.
Have been here a couple of times for dinner when staying in Aboyne. It's really wonderful with great food, drinks and staff. The drinks menu is a stand-out - cocktails that are a bit different from the norm and actually taste as they are described (the watermelon margarita is 10/10). The food is hearty and delicious and the staff are friendly and warm. Would deffo recommend. Make a reservation though! We've been on weekdays in October when almost all tables are full.
Had lunch here with my 2 kids and husband. We The food was great. The young lad that served us was very attentive and thorough with taking our order as I have a dairy allergy and he made sure it was all fine for me to have.
Lovely pub area and the kids enjoyed the little train that went around the wall.
Definitely will go back when we are in the area again.
Dropped in for a quick lunch short of time. Place was busy but we were led to a lovely, quieter bar area, ordered sandwiches and a drink and were served in 10 mins. The drinks were the best ever. Soda and lime with a lovely amount of lime, which never happens. And an equally tasty and refreshing orange juice and lemonade. The sandwiches were great with quality crisps and a beautifully dressed salad. Truly excellent experience.
Great pub for a late afternoon pint after a day in the countryside. Lots of board games and big tables. Dogs welcome in the drinking bar (called the shed but actually a proper part of the building!).
Glad we booked as even on a Monday night place was packed and locals were being asked if they would eat in bar as was fully booked. The restaurant area isn't large, but has a lovely cosy feeling to it and the train track with Thomas and friends along the top of the walls is cute!
Food was very good, had a range of meals on our table - burgers, mac n cheese and a pork special which was amazing! Will definitely return its a gem of a place in Aboyne !
Lovely Inn with super frindly and kind staff. Cozy rooms and great food and beer selection!
The staff will make you feel right at home!
Highly recommend.
Just spent the weekend at the boat inn and can honestly say that we didn't want to leave.
Peaceful, relaxing and some of the best food you are likely to sample made for a perfect weekend.
We stayed in a stunning room within the boathouse at the rear of the property with a free standing bath and quiet balcony where you can sit and enjoy a drink.
The staff could not be more helpful and really top off a simply outstanding experience.
Cannot recommend this place highly enough and cannot wait for our next visit.
Great little Pub / Restaurant we had fish and chips for lunch. Friendly polite staff very good portions. Dog friendly with dog treats and water bowls. Really nice fish and chips.
This fantastic pub, with very friendly staff, has a menu to suit everyone and serves amazing food. Enjoyed the Sunday Roast yesterday and can honestly say it was the best beef I’ve ever had! Dog friendly in the bar.
