Found this place through Trip Advisor while staying in Abingdon. Friendly, helpful staff, nice atmosphere, great choice on the menu, struggled to decide and the food was absolutely gorgeous. Would go to Abingdon just for this place, we loved it!!

A great traditional pub with a wide selection of beers and spirits and an exciting menu for those wishing to have a meal as well. Dog and child friendly, when they are well behaved, Plenty of staff on duty behind the bar at all times. I'm pleased to say it's my local.

Great food and the staff were amazing! We opted for an outside pod with our children and they popped out to furnish us with hot water bottles and blankets to keep the chill out! The food was all delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening!

Absolutely fantastic. Didnt have a booking so thought mwe might not get in. However no worries on that front. Excellent host who showed us to a table. The menu is extensive. Had tje turkey escalopes and they were excellent, others in our group had the steak and ale pie, Chinese pork and another dish I can't remember. Bottle of fizz too. Specials on the board to add to the menu. Worth every penny and will be returning.

Nice pub with an interesting meno of exotic meats (llama, crocodile, buffalo etc) on a hot rock and sizzling dishes. Local ales served here. Friendly staff. -1 star for not having a children’s menu.

This was our first time to eat here. The service was friendly, helpful, and prompt. The food was excellent! The chips were similar to Belgian style, crispy on the outside, chunky, and soft in the middle. All of the dishes were yummy! It was also a good overall value!

Great food. I had the small platter of ribs, which comes with chips and a small salad. Husband had the Aged cheese burger with bacon. Two meat patties. Both were very good. We sat outside, tho it was getting chilly. There are other seating arrangements under markees which might be warmer. It took a while for someone to take our food order after bringing our drinks, but staff are pleasant and accommodating. Recommended.

Welcoming, cheerful and attentive staff. Good atmosphere, background music just loud enough to hear without drowning out conversations. Tried food off the grown up club menu, perfectly cooked, very yummy and excellent value; 1 main and 1 dessert for £10

With it's iconic eagle wing-spread mural, under which many a photo has been taken, the Spread Eagle Inn has more than just some well painted wall art to generate interest. On the Cask Marque Ale Trail, the beer is in excellent condition and there are invariably four or five to choose from. New-build outdoor marquees and booths, all Covid compliant, enhance the outdoor protected seating. Food, especially the 'Sunday Roast' is ever popular and booking a table is advised. Over-all, a pleasant and enjoyable venue and despite the pandemic strictures (all of which are observed as unobtrusively as possible) is still a venue worth a repeat visit.

My Mum had a number of food allergies and they were extremely accommodating. We ate inside, however there were some lovely pods outside and some wooden 2 person booths.

Unbelievable atmosphere and incredible service, the food is out of this world, must recommend the samosa’s and tikka masala, if you fancy something spicy then go for the lamb shank! Excellent beer choices and the pub quiz on a Thursday is second to none! When the pub quiz is done and the food is eaten, go try your hand at the dart board!

We met family for an evening meal yesterday. This was our first visit and will not be our last, we were impressed with the pub and it's facilities, the welcome, staff attentiveness and the food. Oh my, I had the lamb and apricot pie, wow, amazing. 👍😊

Excellent range of choices on Menu. I had two firsts tonight- charcoal bread and crocodile. The July special of 10oz Rump Steak with 2 sides is great value and cooking on hot stones is great fun.
