We were 5 adults, 2 little kids, and a baby....all made to feel extremely welcome, and nothing was too much trouble for the kids (they were very much won over with the extra scoop of ice cream!). The food was just amazing. Best Sunday lunch I've had...and I am not exaggerating. The belly pork was so tasty....please pass our compliments to the chef. So happy to have such a classy place on our doorstep. Can't wait to visit again soon. Thanks all!

Absolutely fantastic dining pub. Friendly staff, adorable host and owner Margaret, top quality food cooked by a brilliant Chef Ludo. It feels like home. I wish you guys all the best in the future. Definitely one of the best pubs in the area. We will be back soon!

Beautiful food, great atmosphere. Can’t fault anything. The food is absolutely to die for - so much flavour. Looking forward to our next visit already. If you’ve not been yet - I strongly suggest you do, it won’t disappoint.

Tried out the new brunch menu this morning! It was incredible and the free glass of prosecco washed it down nicely! Would highly recommend Y Maes for a quiet personal meal or a celebratory evening meal!

I felt compelled to write a review. I don’t leave reviews very often. Not local to the area, staying nearby. Hands down the best roast dinner/ Sunday lunch I have ever had. Everything was so flavourful. Beef was tender. Everything homemade, best roasties I’ve ever had, crispy and soft in the middle, seasoned so well. Best cauliflower and broccoli cheese. The service was really good, really attentive. You can tell they take pride in their establishment. Beautiful scenery. Out door area. Games, family friendly. Will 100% be coming back just for this place!

Firstly we had a good welcome. Then the food was outstanding. Starters were plentiful and tasty. (Only possible criticism was the Thai soup was more of a curry soup, but still very good). Steaks were perfectly cooked, full of flavour. Would highly recommend this place.

Had a lovely meal, pie, mash, peas and gravy. It was really tasty and a good amount too, the cost wasn't cheap but it wasn't too expensive either. I would definitely recommend this pub.

Fantastic food with great service! Booked a table for Sunday lunch yesterday purely based on website reviews, couldn't have made a better choice. We arrived as a group of 13 instead of 12 but accommodating us was no problem, neither was the group having a mixture of starters, main courses and sweets having chosen the two course menu .. All of the food was freshly cooked and our group with specific dietary requirements were easily catered for. The main courses were delicious although special mention goes to the beef brisket which melted in you mouth. Extra vegetables were provided without question...the cauliflower cheese was a definite hit with the group. Service was friendly and attentive. Fantastic value for money at a hidden gem of a place. Thanks for making our us so welcome!

Ate here for lunch two days in a row and it’s sensational! Chef Ludo is one of the best in the business. First lunch, we had the specials including pigeon and guinea fowl. Today we had the Sunday roast. This place is a must for anyone from near or far! Very friendly and welcoming staff too

What a fantastic little gem! We had Sunday lunch here during a recent weekend stay nearby. The welcome was very warm and friendly, the interior is lovely and the staff very helpful. They catered for my food allergies and even sorted out additional things with prior warning. I was shocked to be offered a vegan gluten free dessert - a rarity in some places. Not only that, it was DELICIOUS. Our server - Michelle - deserves a special mention for her excellent customer service and friendly manner. Excellent hygiene and covid protocols as well. Thank you Tafarn y Maes.

The staff were very attentive and knowledgeable regarding my daughter's Coeliac disease. There were several options on the menu but my daughter said she wanted a lasagne, so upon request the chef delivered and it was amazing. Thank you for catering so well for my daughter's needs and making her feel safe and really putting her at ease. Would highly recommend for GF / Coeliac, We will definitely be going again. Thank you.

This is a place worth travelling to. It's really nicely done up, and the food is extremely high level - amongst the absolute best experiences I've had in many years of eating around these parts. There's the usual pub classics like gammon with egg and pineapple which are flawlessly executed plus some more adventurous options like a stunning beetroot and goats cheese risotto. Don't leave without trying the black pudding scotch egg which is glorious.
