This is a little gem, the most amazing dishes on the menu, the service and food impeccable. Thank you for another amazing visit for our Sunday lunch.
Tucked away on the Herefordshire, Adergavenny boarder is this lovely restaurant, were you can get to sample wonderful local food to a very high standard. We had the taster menu, seven courses of well executed food with an autumnal theme to them all. The service was excellent, nothing to much troubl
Had a lovely family Sunday lunch here. Food was good but the biggest positive was the amazing service. They took a lot of effort to take any and all dietary requirements into account and also to cater for young children. We had a combination of the roast and alacarte menu - generally everyone enjoye
Visited recently for a birthday meal for my wife. I was particularly attracted to their attitude towards making children a meal they will like as it's often difficult to go for a nice meal and find something that the kids will also enjoy. From the moment of arrival, Kate gave us a warm welcome at t
Even though we had to be seated outside I was a bit apprehensive because I hate being cold. The weather held off. The sun was shining. I took a blanket in case. We were welcomed by Kate and shown to the table. Kate provided is with hot water bottles for our laps. It made it. The food was outstandi

Stunning food and the loveliest owners. Nothing is too much trouble
Went to day to celebrate a birthday with friends. The meal was outstanding and the service too. It is set in the country side so you have lovely views. I would definitely recommend 1861 for a place to go for a meal it is pricey but well worth it. You are made very welcome.
Our first visit and have to say everything was perfect. Food was out of this world. Amazing menu to choose from. The room was stunning. Beautifully designed and set up. The pride and care that Simon and Kate have shows within every aspect of the restaurant and rooms. Mos Def coming back. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Absolutely fantastic meal - the home made bread / amuse bouche / pre-dessert taster / petit fours all being included with the main, dessert & espresso I ordered mean that the value for money was great and the quality was incredible throughout. I only wish I'd been a tad more hipster and taken a few
Lovely, locally sourced meal in a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The owners were great and were very accommodating of our dietary requirements (vegan and low FODMAP) and even produced specific menus for us! The food was simply divine and the service was excellent.
Lovely warm welcome very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Food was absolutely amazing. The best restaurant in southeast Wales !
Fantastic hosts, great food and wine and spotless, comfortable room. Not cheap but a real treat and worth the money. Would highly recommend.
Excellent food and service. Definitely didn't disappoint.
Lovely calm restaurant with a bit of a buzz. Food is absolutely delicious and a choice of good wine. The Barolo was a great match with the beef. Petit fours had some interesting ingredients and so tasty. The service was extremely good and the owner is very friendly. We will be back
