Staying in Abergavenny, so looked for gluten free food for my husband. Found this place with really good reviews. I am so pleased that it was as good as the reviews. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about gluten free options. The food was delicious, especially the sizzling Gurkhali chicken. Wish it was closer to home!
Celebrated our neighbours 50th Birthday at the Gurkha, our first visit there. Food was outstanding, staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough. Definitely recommend.
Came here for a joint birthday, mine & my wife's. Excellent food and great service. Easily one of the best meals I've ever had. Portion sizes were good and we left feeling content but not feeling stuffed.

Beautiful food and cocktails had by my wife Victoria and myself on our one year anniversary weekend. Excellent service and communication, the proprietor actually took the time to come and have a conversation with us. After we left we were stood in a shop doorway out of the cold waiting for a taxi back to our hotel. As the proprietor came out he offered to give us a lift back there so we gladly accepted. That's what I call going above and beyond for your customers. Highly recommended

excellent food and extraordinary service
Enjoyed a lovely meal here. The service was excellent very friendly and informative staff/waiters. The food was very nice, didn't look a lot when it arrived but it was very filling.
We visited on a Tuesday at about 6pm, when the restaurant was quiet, and had one of the most enjoyable, relaxing meals that we can remember - and certainly the best curry that we’ve been out for.
Neither me nor my wife had tried Nepalese cuisine before, and despite her being a fussy eater, the close-to-familiarity of the Indian offerings was enough to bridge the gap for her.
Meanwhile, I went for my first-ever fish curry, which was superb. Also highly recommended by me is the mango lassi - a creamy, fruity cocktail-like yoghurt drink, which I can’t wait to have again. The waiting staff were superb - not pushy, polite and knowing when to approach the table and helpfully offering advice on menu items.
The combination of the food, the service and the serene experience means that we’ll happily make the 1-hour journey from our home in Neath specifically to come for a meal here.
As someone who avoids vegan junk foods, such as vegan burgers, pizzas and pastas, and I cannot eat anything with chili in it, it can be such a challenge to eat out.
Preferring to eat plant based, wholefoods cooked from scratch, my husband and I were delighted to find the food at the Gurkha restaurant not only very cheap, but also exceptionally delicious.
We went at lunch time on a Thursday, and were surprised to find the restaurant so quiet. With food this good, people need to try it.
The waiter was also very nice and appropriately attentive.
We will definitly be back.
The staff here are wonderful. We ordered takeaway for 4 meat eaters, 1 gluten free and 1 vegan. The gentleman was very cheerful and polite on the phone. They catered for my vegan diet and let me choose the level of spice as well! Lots of gluten free options on the menu. When we went to collect our food, the restaurant was clean and decorated beautifully. We were even given complimentary chocolates (and a lollipop for the vegan!) Everyone was pleased with their food. An overall lovely experience.
What a little gem, beautifully prepared Nepalise food, fabulous soft shell crab followed by nettle curry and the loveliest hosts you could wish for.
went in about 1ish and was unusually quiet we where greeted by friendly staff who lead us to our seats and gave us menus the let you choose how spicy you want your dish to be! Once we ordered the food it was quick to be served and absolutely delicious. fresh, filling and affordable. If we ever return to the area I know where I'll be eating!

I have been to this Restaurant numerous times now and I cannot write a review that would do it justice. The food is simply beautiful and the service is second to none!!!
My favourite food has always been Indian and when a friend suggested we try Gurkha Corner I was a little hesitant as it is Nepalese but I am so glad I went along with it - in my opinion the food is Nepalese-Indian fusion and I have not been back to an Indian Restaurant since coming here - the curries are stunning, authentic and piping hot. My personal favourite is Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi - best I've ever had! What I also love about this place is that nothing is too much trouble for the staff. I love Keema Rice which isn't on the menu but I asked if they could provide some and they have on every visit I've made there.
The staff are so friendly and professional - as I have now been many times they know my choice of Wine and I no longer have to ask for a drink - for me that is quality service with a personal touch. They also always have a smile on their face and seem genuinely pleased to see their guests which doesn't seem to be a common thing these days.
I live in Brynmawr but work in Crickhowell, I finish work at 4PM but will wait around in Abergavenny for an hour and a half for the Restaurant to open - it's that good!!!
I have introduced over 10 family members / friends to this Restaurant since my first visit and every one has loved it with many of those returning with either myself or other friends. I have never had a take-away from here so I cannot comment on this but my preference is always to dine in - it's part of the experience and I cannot recommend this Restaurant highly enough.

The service is lovely, welcoming and professional. All of the food was really tasty and well cooked. The lamb jalfrezi is beautiful.
