We decided to eat here based on recommendations from the staff at our hotel and were not disappointed! After reading some of the rather negative reviews we found that the pub was under new ownership. Our group of 5 all had the black rock steaks which were great. It was an awesome idea for our group to sit and chat while we ate. The rest of the meal was good and the drinks were normal price, around £3 for a pint. After dinner we decided to play some darts and pool with some of the regulars and the owner Dave. We had an awesome time and it was one of our best nights in Aberfoyle. Once we were ready to leave we found out that a taxi would not be able to come pick us up until almost 1am (the pub closed at midnight). When Dave and Moira heard this they tried calling another taxi service while Dave said if we needed he would keep the place open for us (not serving alcohol) so we didn't have to wait outside. In the end we got a taxi that could only accommodate half of our group and Dave graciously drove the other half of us back to our resort. The level of care that they showed to our group was amazing and they truly made us feel like regulars after only a few hours. We even came back again during our stay. I would recommend anyone to check this place out for drinks or dinner. Be wary of the older reviews from Trip Advisor, they are likely from prior management!!
Amazing and a must eat place....the beef steak on the hot stone is simply wow...frindly staff and good ambience. Much recommended. Given an opportunity would love to eat there again.
First time visiting, staff were really helpfull food was great will definitely be back when we are down in aberfoyle again. Loved the smell of smokey cooking meat in the place as myself & others cooked our own meat on the wee hotplate.
Me and my family had an awesome lunch in here, everyone of us loved our food. I would definitely go back and would recommend.
Great service. Excellent gluten free options. Onion rings incredible. Most places don’t do gluten free onion rings so a rare treat. Open log fire with coffee to finish. Highly recommended.
Had a meal here on Sunday night (10 September 2017). Really nice food and served by extremely cheery people. We all had the hot rock steak and lamb. Quality of steak was second to none! Been here before many months ago and was a bit wary as heard new management had taken over. No need to worry as it was good as it ever was. Highly recommend this lovely eatery :-)
Absolutely fantastic place to eat with kids.
Staff were great and helpful and the food was tremendous.
Enjoyed the late lunch yesterday. Excellent food, loved the smoked haddock. Friendly staff and absolutely a great place for children. Really impressed with that lovely area for them.

Amazing meal the staff were so friendly and lovely to my little boy who loved the kids cinema experience . We can't recommend this venue enough !!!

We came for dessert. This was our first taste of sticky toffee pudding. It got us hooked. We can't get enough. We love the stuff. And their recipe was delicious. We had it with ice cream and loved every morsel, so decadent and delicious.
Popped in whilst camping nearby as we needed a dog friendly place to eat.
Had a great meal 😁 The pizza was delicious (goats cheese & caramelised onion) and the Haddock & chips was beautiful, lovely light crispy batter and moist delicate flesh.
Rounded off our meal with sticky toffee pudding (I never got to try any so must of been really good) and a double nougat with ice cream off the specials board.

Lovely place to eat in Aberfoyle. Excellent service! Even if we arrive very close to their limit to order food, they serve us a delicious dinner. Second time here and another good experience!
We stopped for a quick dinner after a hike around Loch Ard.
We were sooooo happy because their steak pies are from the local butcher (down the street) who was closed the day we were there -> so we still got to have the best steak pies!! The chips and veg were good but you can’t beat the steak pie. Seriously. It’s the best in Scotland.
Service was great and friendly and we ate outside.

The place is neat and tidy. And the staff are always on the lookout for any assistance they could offer.
A pet friendly space with plenty of room to park vehicles.
The washrooms are tidy and well maintained.
We had a quick stop here with our bikes. Had a late lunch and a pint. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Lunch was delicious and plentiful. Lovely outdoor seating at the front of the pub and bowls of water ready for your four legged friend too. Can't fault the place.
The food was to die for. Portion sizes were very generous and the staff were great. We will definitely revisit soon
We fell lucky by not booking. We got here at 12:00 to a fairly empty pub and got a table. By time we ordered and got our food, inside was full and they were having to turn customers away. I would definitely suggest booking first if you don't want to be disappointed.
There were 5 of us dinning, 3 adults and 2 children. Two adults got burgers which looked great. And the kids got food of the childrend menu which they enjoyed. I got one of the specials, a steak baguette, it was delicious and a very big portion. I would highly recommend this dish if it pops up on the specials board again.
My partner and I were staying at a local hotel but chose to head out for dinner. We found this restaurant online and it had some good reviews so decided to eat here. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was cooked perfectly and was absolutely delicious, the wait times were just enough to have some good conversation and enjoy the atmosphere and the place itself had such a cosy, welcoming feeling. We find it very rare that a restaurant has it all but this one certainly did. We will definitely be back, highly recommend!
