Reviews The Watermill

This bookshop is a lovely place to visit, housed as it is in a (relatively recently) disused watermill. The internal machinery had been nicely preserved in the bookshop itself (which features the grind-stones), and the art gallery above and cafe below. There is an interesting selection of books to be had, and a huge drawing of three old-timers from Aberfeldy 'chewing the fat', that is FULL of character 😍. Outside, you can easily access views of the wooden water-wheel and its 'race'. Sadly, the race is dry; indeed, the 'race is run' 😞🫣

Very interesting history, make sure to have a close look at the old machinery still on site. The cafe is downstairs and well worth a visit, great food and coffee and if the sun is shining try for an outside table. Great setting.😎

The Watermill is a lovely place to wander around, with three different sections based in an old mill with some elements of that remaining. The top floor houses a gallery, the middle (accessible from street level) is the bookshop, and the lower level is the cafe with both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are friendly and helpful, and I can certainly confirm that the food is good. I'm particularly fond of the gorgeous cakes they serve, and it's a great place to spend some time or meet friends.

It is an absolutely beautiful bookshop in a stunning part of the world. We visit as often as we can when travelling from South of the Border. Despite not having the World's biggest space, their expert curation means there are so many potential buys that would never stand out if you went to a chain shop. Really friendly staff, great cafe. Basically a book lover heaven.

Popped in for a cup of tea. Fabulous atmosphere, friendly staff and a cup of tea to die for. Highly recommended. The cakes looked lovely but did not buy any this time. Will be back to sample another time.e though

Very cute and a surprising variety of books. Loved the children's section for the little ones as well as exploring the local fiction and non fiction. Cafe had the best flat white I've had in a long time, thank you!

Amazing food! The bread was wholesome and soup of the day was tomato, basil, red pepper and fantastic as well! So flavorful! My white elderflower tea was good and unique. My husband had the ham and cheese sandwich (on same amazing bread) and a great cappuccino. He was happy :) We will return when we’re back in the area. Lovely staff and bookstore as well ❤️

A great place full of character at the heart of Aberfeldy. Very busy on weekends, so I would recommend booking if you plan on visiting. A limited food menu but the sandwiches are delicious and there are multiple veggie and vegan options.

Lovely little vegan cafe behind an interesting book shop/art gallery in a disused watermill building. I just had a pot of loose leaf Earl Grey tea but it was delicious and cheaper than a lot of places.

What a great find. Cafe is great with delicious scones and good coffee. We sat outside and received good service. Went into the bookshop which was spacious and extremely well laid out with lovely staff. Homer the house and homeward shop is fascinating with many unusual items. Lovely place to browse with lovely staff.

Wonderful choices of diverse genres! I would have found more books than I actually bought. Definitely a good spot to pass your time browsing through the shop.

What an incredible bookstore! Loaded with a great selection of every genre, including those obscure suggestions that turn out to be gold! Cafe is just as great! Don't miss!!

A little gem of Aberfeldy. Lovely book shop and the cafe downstairs has a selection of sandwiches, along with daily soups and specials. Staff are very friendly, plenty of seating inside and outside. The barista made an excellent cortado coffee. Would definitely visit again when next in the area.

An absolutely beautiful gem of a bookshop, I spent a lot of time perusing the books before purchasing several. Let down by the very unfriendly lady serving at the till. Really spoiled such a lovely experience.
