A gem of find. Friendly staff, great food (especially the pizza) at a reasonable price, amazing room with fabulous estuary view. Clean, comfortable and very welcoming. Would definitely recommend, even on a wet week in January!!

We stayed at the Penhelig this week for two nights and can't praise the hotel enough. The staff are lovely and friendly, the room we had (no.3) was roomy and very comfortable with an excellent view of the Estuary. We enjoyed a superb full Welsh breakfast although there was plenty of other choices. Most of all though they welcomed our little dog - 4 star dog accommodation - with a bed, bowls and even a towel. Thank you Penhelig. Definitely recommended.

Fab 1 night stay at the Penhelig Arms on a Travel Zoo deal. Our first visit but definitely not the last. Friendly staff who made us feel very welcome, lovely room ( no.3) with superb views of the Estuary and hills as a backdrop. Excellent evening meal and breakfast and a great choice of menu. Most highly recommended!!

I have eaten and drunk here several times, always accommodating. The beer is good and well kept ale. choice is limited but what they do have is clean and the gold is particularly fine. Food is good high end pub grub rather than fine dining but that doesn't take anything away from it as its very tasty! Basic cheese and bacon burger is a must. Sunday roast in standard and vegetarian is very good . Well done I will continue to spoil myself by popping in for a pint and a nibble when I'm in town.

The Penhelig Arms provides first rate food and drink and we always call in when in Aberdovey. Nice beer garden overlooking the estuary providing fantastic views. Their Rev James bitter is one of the best ales I`ve ever tasted and perfectly kept.

What a lovely place, sat outside admiring the beautiful view over the inlet, while having a sharing starter that was excellent for the 3 of us, ours mains were perfect for us, so much so we had to have pudding too. The service was excellent too, very quick and very pleasant, crossing the road to get beer was not too much trouble. Tried to use the app to order, but sun was too bright for the screen. Highly recommend this pub/restaurant worth the walk through town. Will try and visit again before we leave.

Sunday lunch very tasty and reasonable value. Great character pub with original features. Service okay but some waitress staff need to attend to requests. Also at times to many dogs around nice cooked food.

We visited Aberdovey for a week. Visited the pub at least 5 times and had food twice. Had a meal in the restaurant on Friday evening. The food was excellent. The surroundings very very nice. The lady who served us was great. She was so helpful and happy. A lovely lady. The bar staff were excellent. A pub well worth a visit.

Fantastic little get away, aberdovey is so calm and peaceful, the penhelig is such a nice cosey hotel we stayed in room 4, the room was quite small but very cosey with a fantastic view of the estuary, there is a public car park just down the road next to train station which you can park on over night, the charge for car park is £11.00 overnight but the hotel said they would sort the parking out. We paid £65 for the night off peak in feb. The evening meal was amazing I had fish and chips and my partner had the steak, amazing food some of the best fish and chips I’ve had. Staff are welcoming and friendly. The location is great. If you have time and your a couple looking to escape the mad busy life of the city this is definitely a vacation I would recommend. The walk into aberdovey town is 10 - 15 mins there are shops and toilets in town, if you want some food there is a co op a 5 min drive in tywyn :)

Thank you for a fantastic experience at the Penhelig Arms! We started with drinks on the terrace with an amazing view in the evening sunshine. The food was amazing. There were lots of interesting choices for vegans and vegetarians which were delicious. The price was great too. Good friendly efficient service, and lovely wine - what more could we ask for!

Lovely pub with some quality real ales and a good selection of food. I had the pie of the day and couldn't fault anything other than I could have eaten a lot more, it was excellent. Only downside was that it was a windy evening and the catch on the entrance door wasn't working so every gust of wind brought a draught across our table. Can't blame the pub for the weather though, would happily go back.

Meal selection was a little disappointing as 2 dishes we wanted were sold out. Food was cooked nice and good quality. Sausage and mash needed veg! Asked if came with any and told no and not offered any. Should be served with greens or at least offer a veg side to order. Staff were polite. No menus given to us when seated so fetched our own and no sauces or vinegar offered when meal came and had to ask. Venue was pleasant and comfortable. Coffees were hit and tasty. Will visit again.

A very nice experience at this cosy establishment. The food was excellent, we had a party of 13 and everyone really enjoyed their food. A lot of steak was consumed! The price was also very reasonable. Highly recommend it if you're in the area!
