Visited the place for the first time during a short trip and I loved it. I was only going for a quick drink but ended up having a burger and fries. The food is amazing!

I've been going to the Machar for several years now and seen it's food menu transition over time. While I was sad to see Fresh Mex leaving (and with short notice!) the new menu from Flippin Buns and Wings is awesome. There's a huge choice of flavours for wings, burgers and hot dogs that you can get on their own or with chips - and the portions are pretty large! And of course the service is always with a smile too! :)

Love this bar and frequented it many times over the years. Run efficiently these days by the Adams family who have been in the bar business for many years and generations. Their ample whisky selection is impressive and the fact there's no overly loud music but a chilled out atmosphere to watch the golf from time to time. With the addition of Fresh Mex which I really enjoy with bar snacks of a difference to what is normally on offer by way of the toastie but instead a delicious Mexican dish of your choice expertly put together by the team in house. My favourite being the chilli bean bowl with ghost chilli sauce and nacho crunch created by them makes for an enjoyable munch.

Was regular in there for 10 years. Won't forget the day England and Scotland were playing football the same day (not against each other) and Jim allowed me (being english) to take my portable tv and watch it in the corner by the front window!

Great little bar in the old town with an amazing whisky selection. Always looks like it's closed, but open the unassuming door and you are treated to the warmest atmosphere :)

I really like the atmosphere in the bar; it's warm and welcoming, and lively without being rowdy. The bar staff also keep a "sexist comments" money jar which is used when customers say something sexist (with the money being divided among female members of staff) which I thought was both funny and a good idea. I'd highly recommend checking it out, if you're a student, Aberdeen resident or just visiting!

Great pub; manages to keep the small community feel even though right in the centre of the uni. Drinks are well poured, the whisky selection is incredible and the food is really decent

This is a cracking little bar. Not just a vast collection of whiskeys but also great real ales on tap with guest beers from the new Scots breweries. We didn't try the food but others were tucking in happily. There are tasting sessions too. The atmosphere is the kind you only get in bars run by people who are passionate about what they do. We found it because we were staying nearby. But I'd take a detour to spend an evening here.

Lovely wee bar in a very Historic part of Aberdeen, huge selection of whisky (colour coded for price /age / rarity) and some nice cask ales. Well worth a look if you are strolling about this very old part of Aberdeen.
