We had a lovely two hour walking tour of the estate grounds- our guide Kathleen was absolutely fabulous! She intermingled facts with personal stories of growing up in and around Balmoral. And the view from the top of the hill made the tiring climb well worth the effort! The grounds and castle are beautiful and the history of Balmoral is very interesting. It was an enjoyable afternoon!
Although we had a 3 hour drive it was amazing, great food and service and great for the kids and great pictures of our family day at this amazing place
Lovely afternoon out. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Grounds are lovely and yes you do only get access to one room but what you see is well presented and with good information. Lovely tea room with lovely staff. We had our 1 year old grandson with us and he was given some foamed milk with chocolate sprinkled on top no charge. Could have spent longer. Audio guides very good.
What a beautiful and peaceful place! I loved every minute of our visit. The walk among the giant old trees, the gardens, the café. And the castle itself is of course gorgeous. You can only visit the ballroom, but that's fine. It's really the wonderful surroundings that I'll keep in mind.
Beautiful place to visit , steeped in history , the children loved it . You can see why the royals love to holiday here , it’s just stunning scenery and the drive through the highland moors is well worth it . The cafe was nice and my daughter and husband were thrilled with their cheese scones .
We pre bought our tickets on line and this was easy . The staff we met around the estate were all friendly and welcoming . We will definitely return ... when the queen has finished her holidays of course .
A very beautiful place. I was in awe of the tree up the driveway alone. But nothing was disappointing. Ithe drive from Inverness was amazing too. What a completely amazing place
Beautiful castle, only one room open for visits would have loved to see more but overall had a lovely time there. Gardens stunning.Little cafe serves homemade cakes and main meals well worth a try. Gift shop is reasonably priced.
It’s a lovely place to visit and very peaceful too xxx
Beautiful gardens and fantastic cafe staff are very knowledgeable. All gardens are accessible and disabled parking is very near the house. There is a wonderful vegetable kitchen garden too!
Fantastic day out, beautiful gardens and castle. Staff are very helpful, nothing was to much trouble. A little disappointed with only being able to access one room of the castle....but I guess it is the queens private residence.
Lovely visit here last week all the staff were lovely especially Bill who drove the people trailer and the staff in the shops. I also was very lucky that I lost my watch near the castle and someone handed it in and the staff were exceptionally nice dealing with this and I’m thankful to everyone who helped me during that time a credit to Scotland and the Queen.
Does not get better! Awesome to be able to walk the grounds and have cup of tea with scones at the cafe! was nice to be able to to enjoy the grounds and have a seat to enjoy the beauty. Nice walk along the river and enjoy the beauty of nature! Would highly recommend going here any time of the year
A wonderful place to visit. Easy to park nearby. Access was
Allowed to walk right up to Castle. Beautiful grounds - just breathtaking. Small Cafe. So much more to explore if you have the day there.
Beautiful. Helpful security staff who guided us to disabled parking. Once inside the grounds we enjoyed the beauty of Balmoral. Stunning. Even heard and caught sight of an eagle flying overhead. Visited the cafe and shop. All staff very happy and friendly.
What a beautiful palace. The King or family were in residence when we visited and we didn't manage to view the actual castle from the inside.
The gardens & grounds are beautiful...as one would expect given it was Queen Elizabeth's favourite place.
The vegetable & flower gardens are beautiful.even in October and the formal grounds are certainly impressive.
The castle is very impressive, has a lot of historic significance, you get to stay where the royal family ate and laughed. The gardens are milimetricaly trimmed and everything is arranged.
The castle (outside) and the gardens were free to visit, but we had to pay £5 for the car park.
This is an absolutely amazing place. It is so beautiful and the grounds are spectacular. It was worth every penny to enter. We spent 5 hours walking the grounds and taking it all in. The staff that we interacted with were brilliant. So friendly and eager to tell you all you could want to know. Very informative. Take your time, enjoy, and most of all, just be present.
It was great to visit these place , shame u can't get inside but the other way I wouldn't like people wondering around my house so can understand. The oyster room was available to enter was ball room which was amazing with a lots of royal family pictures . Ground of the castle been great we was lucky to have a nice weather so we spend most of the day wondering around. Coffee shop very nice we had a cream tea .
Amazing place. Easy £5 parking, walk over bridge, through the gatehouse into the forest walk to the castle. The grounds are immaculately maintained and you can roam the gardens. New owner King Charles III has posted development plans and renderings for his ambitious and totally appropriate improvements to the gardens. They grow a lot of produce and flowers. We marvelled imagining the parties and goings-on in the beautiful grounds and the immediate area streams and hunting grounds. Prince Albert bought this place for Queen Victoria in 1852. Don’t forget to visit the Lochnagar Whisky distillery at the rear of the property! Gordon was a great host!
What an absolutely fabulous place. The short time we had walking around was amazing. We are back up for the new year and will be visiting again, hopefully have a quick brew with my mate Charles.
🏰 Went on a day that had great weather which was good. There's a nearby walk to cairns which you can do without paying to get into the grounds, and the grounds themselves have a couple of decent walks. The kitchen gardens were interesting, as were the photos in the ballroom. You can even get down to the banks of the river Dee and have a wee paddle!
