I had a date here, which is not the ideal place for it because it is quite noisy even during the week.
The food was really nice and the staff was amazing. I had pesto and my date had pasta with seafood, we both had desert and a glass of wine and only paid £21 each.
Would definitely recommend :)
Amazing good. Very friendly services. I had a glass of Sauvignon Cabernet, olives for starter, linguine la marinara for main. All very tasty and food potions. Hence I couldn't have the desert.
The fish is just cooked to perfection. You know they have a good chef if the fish dish is not dry or over killed. You would be surprise how difficult to find a restaurant can do that. Rustica nailed it.
All came to £22 which I don't think it's bad at all.
Will return for sure.
This is probably my favorite restaurant in Aberdeen.
Not your hardcore Italian food, but yes hits the southern Italian and Mediterranean taste pretty well.
Daily specials are really great, once had a chicken and smoked ham meal that might have been the best food I ever had.
The menu is diverse and has a wide variety.
Pizzas are good, not the best but good nonetheless.
Place is cosy and enjoyable, although I would've liked more light.
One negative thing is that sometimes the smell when you first go in is not so great, although that smell is not always there, and sometimes it smells really tasty.
Definitely recommend the place
Had been here several times - brilliant service, lovely specials which I normally chose from and great pizza which they deliver! Nothing is too much trouble - they are always happy to change dishes to suit! Just note no pizzas available fri-sat!
I like and visit here two continuous two days.
Good pasta, and I live white fish main course better, and then, reasonable price!!
A spur of the moment decision took my wife and I here but will definitely be planning a return visit. The food, the service and the place were all excellent, can't wait till the next time.
Had a great meal here on our first night in town. Ate early on a Saturday, and the place was packed when we left. Lively, fun atmosphere. Excellent service. Veal Saltimbocca was excellent, and the lasagna, pork medallions, Branzino and salmon special got good reviews from our group as well. Well worth it - we'd definitely go back.
Came here for dinner with my boyfriend, my brother and sister in law for a Saturday night dinner. The ambience and decor were great, a really enjoyable atmosphere to have a meal in.
My boyfriend and I shared bruschetta and calamari for a starter, both tasted fresh and were good portion sizes.
For main I had the halibut which came with chilli and garlic spaghetti, it was absolutely delicious - full of delicate flavours. At £17.95 for a main course, this is a pricey option (pastas are much more reasonable, a range between £8-£12) but halibut is wonderful so it is worth it.
They also have quite an extensive daily specials menu...I think there was 5 or 6 things on it, and I wanted all of them which is unusual for me.
Finally, the wait staff were excellent - there was many of them - it felt like every time someone came to our table it was a new face, but they were smiling, helpful and efficient.
The only negative i have to comment on is that the toilets upstairs were absolutely tiny and rather claustrophobic. For a restaurant of this size, I hope those aren't the only toilets they offer!
This is a really great place. It isn't often that a restaurant can provide good food and service -- but Rustico pulls it off.
The Food:
The dishes are a bit pricey (£20pp isn't uncommon) -- and the meatloaf is to die for. They don't serve a caccetori, which I found interesting. And they don't serve marinara with the calamari, which is always cooked to perfection (not overdone and rubbery, which is easy to do).
The wine selection is good too -- a little pricey for the quality, but they've chosen the wines (and dishes) carefully and they are presented without being pretentious. To me this is the best part. Good food doesn't have to be snobby. It can be nice, yet casual. Tasty, and down-to-earth.
The Service:
No matter what you order, you're sure to get personalized service without a rush. I also like the environment, too, because it is cosy. I often bring dates here because it is easy to feel like it is just the two of you having a chat and being served by your very own staff. To me the tables feel as if they are in a small country home. It is that warm and cosy inside.
Also, my conversation is never interrupted by wait staff at Rustico. This is a big deal to me as I'm often on dates at this place, trying to get to know a new friend. The service is really spectacular. Truly.
Special notes:
Make reservations on the weekends as it books up. Also, don't be afraid to show up last minute without reservations because though they do book up, there are often spots left open from no shows. But definitely make reservations if you can.
This is a fantastic place to eat out for any occasion. I ventured out here for a birthday meal and the only thing that disappointed me was the prices and the service.
The meals were absolutely delicious when they finally arrived. It was an extremely busy saturday night and there was a rather large group of us so that probably had something to do with the service. I don't know if this is every night.
The food was quite expensive but it was delicious to go with it so i could definately put up with the slow service. This is defiantely worth a visit if you want good food and have a few hours to spare
This place is amazing - we were a group of 30 on a Saturday night and every single one of us agreed on how incredible the food is! The lamb was succulent and tender, and the sauce on the chicken was heavenly. Service was fast and charming, despite the fact that we weren't the only large group in there. I really couldn't fault it. You won't regret trying it out.
Seems to be a favourite for many people. Have been here in big groups and found that it could take a while to get it together but once you got your food it was very nice. Prices are a bit high but good quality.
One of Aberdeens finer Italians. Good menu with some excellent specials. Service is friendly and efficient. It loses a few brownie points due to the prices which can sometimes seem fairly inflated.
a beautiful place, wonderful food and a nice atmosphere, it can be a bit pricey, but totally worth it for a special occasion.
the staff are all well mannered and helpful, and as i already said the food is just awesome
rustico is an excellent italian staurant located in central aberdeen which is handy to get to. the food in here is excellent and has all the usual traditional dishes that you would expect from any italian restaurant but this one offers more adventurous dishes as well. there are always specials on here as well and the prices tend to be not bad for the amount of food that is on the plate. the staff are always very efficint slick and friendly with their service and thoroughly deserve a tip. this is a great choice of place for either a group of friends or for a date.
This restaurant is the most welcoming, helpful and obliging my husband and I have been in in Scotland and the food was so good I just cannot put it into words and cannot wait to return. You must book as it is always full.
Good classic Italian food, very popular in Aberdeen. Seafood dishes cooked very well.
Service was quite slow, we were in quite a large group but perhaps the restaurant found that a little overwhelming to cope with.
Overall happy with the meal.
We ate dinner at Rustico during our weekend in Aberdeen and were super impressed by the quality of the food! Delicious starters and cooked-to-perfection mains with fresh ingredients. The staff was very welcoming and kind. The bonus is that the restaurant is dog friendly! 🐕
Will definitely come back to this hidden gem
Friendly staff, maybe the best or atleast one of the most authentic tasting Italian cuisines. Everything tastes fresh from starters to the deserts in the menu I may have almost tried them all. Definitely worth it! Again the staff is amazing and will help if you need anything. Thank you guys!
Unpretentious & honest family run restaurant.. went for an impromptu Saturday lunch and after spending just over 30 quid between the two of us, we could barely move. Not a Michelin-star type of a restaurant, but I don't consider it a bad thing - they do their own thing and it seems to work well. Slight criticism, bruschetta was a bit bland, but considering it's January, and even in the height of summer you can't get decent ones in this part of the world - I still think the result was more than satisfactory. Not our first visit, and I'd hope to be returning for more
Great food, excellent value, amazing service.
Excellent service. We arrived at the same time as other tables on a busy Saturday night and were all seated within seconds. Extremely friendly and efficient service throughout the evening. The place runs like a well-oiled machine (without ever making you feel rushed). The food arrived really quickly, was delicious and (to my admittedly non-Italian palate) authentic. We'll definitely be back!
First time to Rustico, a well known Italian in Aberdeen City centre. It was a Saturday night and the place was rammed. Lots of good options on the menu. I had the vitello saltimbocca, it was very nice, but wouldn't have minded a bigger portion, more vegetables etc. Friends had linguine al pesto and linguine al porcini and gave it a thumbs up. Its quite pricey, but considerably better than the various chain Italian restaurants elsewhere.
The staff were nice and courteous; they took pictures of us when we asked. We had our delayed Christmas lunch on 10th January, and we very much enjoyed the menu and the ambience.
I feel this is one of the best restaurants in Aberdeen (not just the best Italian restaurant).
The menu has so many choices.
I had the slow roasted lamb shank on mashed potatoes, the lamb was melt in the mouth tender. The potatoes were smooth and savoury.
There were 6 of us in our group. Service was great, all meals arrived at the same time and all were piping hot.
The atmosphere was great, a real buzz.
I also think it's very good value
My first visit to Rustico.
We were a group of four, taking the lunch menu, the choices were excellent, quality of ingredients exceptional, & service was brilliant, it's always good to see cheery & engaged members of staff, from the initial welcome into the restaurant, all the way through to the service of meals, i would absolutely recommend, & more than happy to give a 10/10🌟
Looking forward to our next visit to experience a lovely relaxed lunch, there was no rush, just the way a lunch should be.
The name of the restaurant really reflects what it’s inside, no fancy / trendy stuff. It is about tradition and real Mediterranean culture.
The decor, furniture are “rustic style” as well
A lot of personnel so the service is great, no waiting time, if you need anything, someone is still around and will be helpful
Regarding the food, I ordered:
Starter : prosciutto crudo and Main : Vitello saltimbocca and dessert : a delicious home made tiramisu
All were tasty, well served and cooked (main)
My colleagues really appreciated what they ordered as well.
An amazing Italian restaurant in the city centre. The food was delicious and very generously portioned and the staff were friendly, helpful and wonderfully cheerful at all times. They are very child friendly and with children basically getting a half portion, half price selection from the usual adult menu. Looking forward to going back again.
The front of the restaurant is terrible, but there is a little gem behind it - come in.
Great food, can’t really beat the value for money.
Always a dangerous sign when they write the carbonara has cream (not Italian) but the food was great.
We had calzone pizza, pasta ragu, and it was all we hoped for.
Very welcoming, even though we had a small dog with us at linchtime. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was delicious (every course presented well and very tasty), traditional Italian menu and good value. Can highly recommend.
Well.....54 yrs old...and one of the best meals I've ever had.
Great food (not often I can't finish it)
Fantastic service.
Great ambience.
Great staff.
Just wonderful.
Really lovely Italian place and we definitely recommend that you visit! The service was absolutely fantastic and the food was tasty. We recommend having the cheesy garlic bread and the profiteroles for dessert (don’t let the white chocolate put you off, it’s not too sweet and the balls are filled with a chocolate cream- so yum I didn’t even get a chance to take a picture !!).
We were accommodated without a reservation without fuss. Service was fast and friendly and the food was awesome. The place has a lovely atmosphere.
