Loved it! Quirky old place with lots of weird stuff - e.g. Paper mache pig puppets😜😜
Good range of beers
Lots of comfy sofas and seats
Interesting clientele
If you're a straight laced Dail Mail reader beware- if you like fun good company and a decent pint you'll love it! 😎😜
I absolutely LOVE this place!! The food is fantastic as are the staff!! Highly recommend xxx
Stayed in the Charlotte room last night.... Will definitely love to stay again... room was very quaint and comfortable.... the hotel itself was just adorable with a nice balance of old and new... has an amazing area for the summer beer garden.... staff were very polite and professional and hats off to the chef... food was delish with a choice that would rival a 5 star ...
Loved it
Really relaxing enjoyable evening celebrating our friends birthday, lovely meal & very courteous staff , would recommend
We stayed in a B&B in Abbotsbury and discovered the Ilchester on our 2nd night; we then ate there every night for the rest of the holiday! It's a lovely place, great food and a warm welcome from all staff. We even got to watch the last gripping episode of "The Night Manager" after dinner! The next night the football was on for hubby whilst I curled up on a comfy sofa and read from the fab selection of "geeky" books. Would defo recommend to others. Well done! :)
Spent a lovely stopover at the Ilchester Arms, Abbotsbury. Yes, the rooms are tired & could do with upgrading however, our was comfortable, clean & quiet with a huge TV. Ideal for a stopover. Food in the pub was very nice & staff very helpful & friendly. Ticked all the boxes for us at a good price & with breakfast too.
Stopped in this Abbotsbury Pub during a busy time late in the lunch shift. The bar tender was super helpful and very nice. The food was very satisfying without being fancy. The best fries we had while in England.
Found this gem of a place in desperation as everything in the Dorchester area was booked up when I needed to do a last minute trip. So glad I did! Our room was lovely, the staff was friendly, my bed so comfortable and the breakfast was top notch. Was worried about being above the pub but honestly had the best nights sleep. Will go back on purpose next time and try the dinner as well.
The loveliest little hotel. All the staff were friendly, very doggy friendly which is great as I traveled with my two doggies. Beautiful view, amazing food, just the atmosphere of this place was just right. Thanks again to everyone here Emily x
Great location in a beautiful village. Hotel and pub in an old building, you can feel the history at every step. Tasty food, large portions, professional service. The equipment of the room and bathroom is quite outdated, without attention to detail (cables hanging around the TV, bedside lamps with cables too short to plug them in, poor ventilation). Despite everything, the price was very low and adequate to the conditions offered. I wouldn't call it a three-star hotel, the standard is definitely much lower. However, a one-night stay is more than enough. I recommend it to anyone who does not need to wallow in luxury.
Lovely staff only go there for a snack.cant tell you anything about accommodation sorry. However I'm sure its brilliant.Ken
Shame it looks alittle down at heal. Probably due to lack of staff. The bar maid did not stop ie cleaning writing boards serving. Worth her weight in gold.
Beautiful location and beer garden.
Excellent location, in the centre of the village, with off-road parking. Attractions within walking distance. Friendly staff, great food. Recommended
Food really great and generous portions in evenings. Rooms fine but a bit tired around the edges especially shower but obviously refreshed a few year ago. Staff super friendly at all times. Quite expensive rooms considering. We were offered an alternative room without question as no heating when arrived (and temp boiler issue one day meaning heating/shower issue) and one old window simply wouldn't close to keep out any draft, but decided against it as other room smaller. Its a old building so that is a charm in itself but feels perhaps a little unloved in parts in mid February 23...You may love your time there and location is great in an amazing landscape. Breakfast tasty generally although not delivered quite all requested, but strangely (?) no cereal option and asked for juice which was readily given but not offered. Pub part highly recommended. And no we didn't comment at the time except for heating issue...
Lovely place to stay we went back for another night and was very happy great staff great room great location we will be back thank you for a lovely stay
Perfect b&b. Excellent breakfast. Good choice of beers. Ample parking. Friendly staff.
